Not sure if Facebook stands a chance?

But I don't get how the little wankers are going to bring down the world's biggest website using bombs and silly little threats that they didn't even carry out - as a method of doing so?

I don't agree with FB owning the rights to all of your photos. And if you're worried about keeping in contact with friends then there's always other sites :P

Like what exactly?

Everyone is on Facebook :joker: We can't all just go back to the days of Bebo or MySpace Jesus.

LOL that video's just a load of sh*t, they don't use bombs or physical attacks or any of that stuff, they're hackers, that's how they're gonna try to bring the site down

Ramsay 11-08-2011 04:31 PM

These guys are pretty legit so i wouldnt be surprised if they actually close facebook

InOne 11-08-2011 04:33 PM

Well seen as how rich the FB creators are, and now they've had a heads up, think they can afford to employ people to stop it.

Ramsay 11-08-2011 04:36 PM

Think the date is probably a diversion
Plus they've taken down loads of other sites
They even took down PSN..they are crazy like

Stu 11-08-2011 04:38 PM

If they took down Sony they can take down Facebook.

I hope it happens. I'm one of those people who is on Facebook because his friends are and he doesn't want to miss anything.

With Facebook down not only do I have to not be on it anymore but I'm not at risk of missing anything.

Die, Facebook, die.

Stupid letting them know when.

Facebook is here to stay.

Jords 11-08-2011 04:42 PM

I bet Google+ hired them like a hitman.

arista 11-08-2011 04:43 PM

"If they took down Sony "

But Sony is Online Now
so it was a temp problem.

Regarding giving away the date, this lot aren't stupid, they'll having something planned. I reckon they're more than likely just going to try and take personal information, to show people how insecure their data is, with the intent of deterring new people from joining or make existing users disable their account rather than take down the site.

Ramsay 11-08-2011 04:47 PM

http://anonplus.bombshellz.net/

they got banned from google+ so they are trying to make their own social network

Yeah they'll probably do the same as they did to Sony and just try and cause maximum embarrassment for them, they might take the site down for a short time but they won't be able to do permanently

MTVN 11-08-2011 04:53 PM

Not sure if it'll actually go ahead though http://www.v3.co.uk/v3-uk/security-w...nce-opfacebook

Hacktivist group Anonymous has renounced the OpFacebook campaign revealed yesterday, which was aimed at "destroying" the social network because of its alleged collusion with oppressive governments and erosion of user privacy.

A YouTube video posted to the site on 16 July seems to be the main source of the rumours of a planned Anonymous attack on Facebook on 5 November. The video features an Anonymous logo, and encourages any would-be hacktivists to "join the cause and kill Facebook for the sake of your own privacy".

At the time, Anonymous did not seem to be able to decide whether the video was a hoax or not. The Anonyops Twitter account first posted a message saying it was indeed a fake. "We don't 'kill' the messenger, that's not our style," it said.

However, the account then modified its statement a few hours later, saying that Operation Facebook is indeed being organised by some members of the group.

"This does not necessarily mean that all of #Anonymous agrees with it," it added.

The latest Twitter activity, however, seems to indicate that senior members of the group have decided to denounce the OpFacebook campaign completely, instead urging supporters who dislike Facebook to delete account data.

"An Anonymous board meeting was held. We have decided to renounce #OpFacebook. That is all," noted one statement.

Anonops then revealed that "the old hats of Anonymous" had decided to take a firmer role in the direction of the group.

"We're taking Anon back. Time for sensible, focused discussion," it said.
