And how about Alexander Graham Bell? :D

He was Canadian, and worked in America.

^^They were the ones I just thought of quickly :D

stickydatepudding 19-08-2011 10:19 PM

Susan Boyle could be good.

lostalex 19-08-2011 10:20 PM

I think even though there arn't really that many specific scottish epople that are famous, i think Scottish Culture is still really famous, and known round the world. Certainly more than the Welsh.

lostalex 19-08-2011 10:21 PM

It doesnt count as a Scottish invention if you invent it in another country. Inventions count for the country they are INVENTED IN, not for the country that the person was BORN IN.

Scottish people have a very liberal idea of what is Scottish. lol.

Lee. 19-08-2011 10:52 PM

Lol.. no we don't. It's really quite simple; if you are born in Scotland, then your Scottish. Bell wa born, raised and educated in Scotland therefore he is a Scottish inventor. :hmph:

I really hate when people come out with crap like this. Who actually cares what nationality/colour/sexuality the housemates are? I mean...seriously

Yes, but he became a Canadian citizen, and had a home in Canada, but he INVENTED the telephone in America, at Boston University. That's why the telephone is an American invention.

But i do love the Scots, my Mom's side of the family is Scottish, so i won't argue. :P

Scottish isn't a nationality. Scots are citizens of the United Kingdom, their nationality is British. (for now)

W!ell, not according to the UN. Never seen a Scottish chair at the UN... Maybe Salmon can fix that.

I think you should be proud to be British though. I love California, But i call myself an American before i call myself a Californian.

Lee. 19-08-2011 11:08 PM

California isn't a country though! Scotland is.

My cousin lives in California.. I'd like to visit at some point. :)

Wizardmerlin 19-08-2011 11:10 PM

I call myself English just like
William Shakespeare , Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel.
