Sorry to say but this is going to steadily decline in about 4-5 weeks and dwindle down to numbers like 1.x million.

Well yes that is still a big number but then you have the exact same issue as C4 - would 'anything else' do just as much or more?

That is what I fear will happen too, but you have remember even at that level it is still a big audience for Channel 5, so it doesn't mean they will pull the show or the deal to make the shows they have agreed to. The production company will have a nice agreement which means they get paid in some way if the channel pulls out of the show for whatever reason.

I think you also have to remember the timing here when looking at the ratings. The show is normally shown in the quieter times of the year. Over the summer when there isn't much on and just after Christmas when things go quiet after the channels spends loads on the programmes for the holidays. In the autumn the channels always fight for the audience with the big programmes, like the X-Factor, and Big Brother has been placed to fight it out with them. It is bound to take a hit just because of it's placement in the schedules.

maybe so but more headlines like this are not going to help with ratings http://www.metro.co.uk/showbiz/87294...#ixzz1VZTxZwhE

It is amazing how the papers react to these things, but it is nice to see they had some good things to say as well.

I really don't think the live feed issue affects many, to be honest, but the die hard fans. They will only gain a handful of viewers that aren't watch because they sulking because there is no live feed.

After all the this place is hardly representative of all of the majority of people that watch the show. We are the die hard fans that have in many cases been watching it for years.

I think they need to change the show completely although they might get lucky again like they did in 2009, depends on the housemates, last year was shockingly bad.

What do you mean might get lucky like 2009?

2009 was the least watched BB of all time.

Do you even know what you're talking about

i was wondering the same thing

Callum 20-08-2011 02:34 PM

This was to be expected. By all means, they are not bad ratings though.

Chuck 20-08-2011 05:45 PM

Not bad rating at all :nono:

CharlieO 20-08-2011 05:56 PM

The ratings will be so low tonight I bet because of X-Factor and Xtra Factor.

Marc 20-08-2011 05:57 PM

That's to be expected.

Jake. 20-08-2011 06:06 PM

Big brother pretty much starts when xfactor finishes, so hopefully some viewers will switch over

Marc 20-08-2011 06:07 PM

People probably tuned in to see which celeb's were in, saw how rubbish some are (waterloo road, mr.pap, politician's wife) and thought better of it.

Nightshade 20-08-2011 06:10 PM

lose in audience figures

perhaps its because of the presenter, davina was crap but brian is worse, why cant they find someone half decent, emma willis is crap as well.

Another one of the Glass-Half-Empty Brigade.

Sophiee 20-08-2011 06:17 PM

that's to be expected really, but it wasn't awful.

Because I loved the channel 4 series and this series isn't up to any standard that I had of the show. And its been two days I give opinions based on what I've seen but I am giving it a chance to change. And I will moan about it if I want to moan about it.

I wasn't even saying Xtrafactor should stop people watching Big Brother I was saying it will stop people watching tonight because the public prefer XF. Thats just the truth.

EDIT: Plus I didn't sign up during this series so its not like I only joined to moan. I joined because I loved the show. I don't love this show.

I don't like some of the change's myself, i couldn't care less about them if we had live feed, which is the hole point of Big Brother.
And yeah many people would rather watch X Factor then BB which sucks, but i don't see the X Factor doing very well this year with the new judges

Melanie20 20-08-2011 06:24 PM

They were always going to lose viewers on the second night but 3m is still great going for C5.
I think a lot of people were disappointed with the initial 11 that went in. I was sad that Charlie Sheen had not gone in! I am sticking with it for now, as I like Sally Bercow but once she goes, I have to decide whether or not I want to bother watching the rest of them
