As to the comment of Tara saying her dog taught her how to love. A dog is very loyal and faithful to good owners that treat it right, I see a lot more affection in our dog than I see between a lot of humans.
They trust you and you can trust them, Tara was talking about 'love' in general not physical love involving sex,I knew what she was getting at.

I miss Tara, I didn't think I would but the dynamics of the house have slipped since she went out. She was a good housemate,I got a lot of laughs at her and also listened to a lot she said too.
I voted to save her but it didn't happen unfortunately.

It is interesting what she is now saying so early after leaving the house and she is totally right on Kerry and Lucien as the last 2 days have shown so likely she is right on other things too.

I can't stand when people say that dogs give "unconditional love".

Dogs do not give unconditional love. They love you because you give them food. If you stopped giving them food, they wouldn't hesitate to eat you.

How many Daily Mail articles have we read about the person who has a heart attack and dies, and their dog ate them? It's like once a month.,

Well I expect 'anything' and 'anyone' would turn on whoever didn't feed it/them if they couldn't get their own food.

so it's not unconditional love, it's conditional on food.

Feeding is only one aspect of owning a dog, they guard the house, they would even risk their own lives to protect their owners if the owner was attacked/mugged whatever.Loads of other things I could list too.

I would guess you dislike dogs then.

They arn't protecting the house or owner though, they are protecting their food source. So it's for survival/selfish reasons that they do it., not "love".

Honestly though, I think it depends on the dog, they have personalities just like us. I've read stories of dogs almost and actually starving to death because their owner died and they had no food but didn't eat the owner. On the otherhand I also read a story where a woman attempted suicide and her dog started eating her face and she wasn't even dead :/

Oh come on,it's like the same thing as if the Children or family who lived there protected everything out of love for their parents and home too.

Dogs are one of the least selfish animals.I don't know what dogs you've come across but your description of them doesnt fit ours at all in 'any' way whatsoever.

I agree, it does depend what type of dog and also how it is treated and trained too.

Ammi 05-09-2011 11:20 AM

lol at how this thread has gone off topic from the Lucien/Kerry showmance. I'm sure some dogs would eat your face and others wouldn't, same as with children, I blame the parents. As for 'unconditional love', of course it's conditional on you feeding them, they wouldn't be able to show any love at all if you've starved them to death, the unconditional refers to them not judging you on your faults, which humans do. Having cleared that up, I can't believe anyone needed Tara to clear that up, anyone whoe believed it was real in the first place must be

CaudleHalbard 05-09-2011 11:38 AM

An adult dog is considered to have approx the same IQ as a 3-year old child. So it is somewhat more than going to where the food is. They are not known as "man's best friend" for nothing. :)

However, they aren't humans and some people (e.g. Amy) get ridiculously besotted with them. Obviously Tara as well.
