It was a disaster, wasn't it. You must look at how the final rating compared not to other finals but against the series average. It's a bad sign that not that many additional people tuned in to the final and shows the show didn't register that much interest with anyone outside the core BB audience.

but ch5 did buy it to essentially bring the BB audience over to them. Theyve managed to hang on to most so far so I think the juries still out on where it will go with BB12. But Im not sure how ambitious ch5 are. Maybe theyre happy to just get 1.5 million on a regular basis?

Oh I'm not doubting the series average as a whole is great for a network like Channel 5 I'm talking strictly the jump from your average highlights show to the final. It's a horrible indication of public awareness/care that only a relatively small few extra people bothered to tune in for the final. Look how low it was compared to the launch.

Usually the launch and finals both rate much higher than the series average which is a good indicator of the 'I don't watch it every night but I'm still interested' crowd. Here it seems judging by the final rating that didn't happen at all and most of the people who sodded off once the launch curiosity wore off didn't bother coming back.

well I think ch4 were right to ditch it because for them they were on a downward spiral. But ch5 had nothing to lose so its a good gamble for them. Plus getting a young audience into the habit of flicking over to ch5 can't do them any harm. Viewers really do get into the habit of just watching certain channels. I know I do.

That's a very valid point, most of my family and friends view their TV with their favourite channels and I know none of them tune into C5 until CBB.

The last time I remember watching C5 was when Prison Break first aired.

(Not that it made any difference) but everyone I knew was talking about it on FB and Twitter, so I expected a little more based on that :p

Really ****s me off that people like you who call yourselves fans laugh at when the show does badly.

Doogle 09-09-2011 06:23 PM

Well the OP just moans and moans and moans about everything on BB. Even if it was perfect he'd probably moan about the camera angle or something

Its been a brilliant series, shame.

Ratings will never soar unless the format is radically changed, fact.

I don't think ratings are as important as they were years ago, although that could be just my thoughts.

There is so many different ways of watching shows such as, on-line, catch-up or simply recoded and watched later. Are those viewers included in the ratings ?

I had a call at the start of this year asking me to take part in a survey of what I watch on TV, when they asked what wage bracket I came in, they told me they already had enough for that category. The call was ended and I sat there puzzled by how my wage dictated what programmes I watch.

Fine figure for Channel 5. Don't see the negative to be honest. Plus it is starting tonight again for the normal series. So it didn't feel like a final.
