Jedward helped attract children of nursery school mentality and adults with the same.......As for a real BB series the ruined any chances of CBB being a true edition. For a childrens version of BB and the immature they were ideal.

Actually its unfair to blame Jedward they are what they are.....I would blame CH5 for turning CBB into childrens fodder.....Glossy childish editing also ruined the essence of what BB is about

Well then, I suppose it's a good thing I really don't care whether you're following me or not... Your thread asked for my opinion and I provided it. You don't have to agree with it but let's keep the insults out of it, okay? I'd like to believe there's still some civility left in the world. :xyxwave:

To further touch upon my initial post, I know SEVERAL people who couldn't stand the thought of those kids when they first went into their house. Many of those people (more than not) were surprised with the level of entertainment they ended up bringing to the house. Other than sweatgate and the love triangle of Lucien, Kerry, and Amy, without Jedward the show would have been bland (barring alternative housemates of the same nature).

Finally, to touch on your last point about many people who "tuned out" and didn't bother to "tune back in," as it were, you're absolutely right... but then again, most of those people didn't feel the need to come onto an internet forum to express their distaste...

On the contrary, they just tuned out and kept it moving, never looking back... Perhaps you should have done the same. In any event, you can thank your lucky stars that the series is over... so now you can find something else to be discontent about.

Have a SUPER day. :wavey:

Well said that man. (or woman!!)

It does make me giggle that some of those who allegedly switched off - or didn't switch on to watch - seem to be in a better position to judge the antics of Jedward - on the show that they didn't watch much of. wish I knew how to do that, would save me needing to buy a TV Licence !!!

Very well said indeed NXS, hope you have a great day, you deserve to after that post that sums things up perfectly.

Going by the poll results: love 'em or loathe 'em - seems the majority agree that Jedward helped CBB ratings.

Marc 10-09-2011 01:53 PM

Considering they were the only 'celebs' relevant in the past 2/3 years they probably did.

joeysteele 10-09-2011 06:12 PM

Well,I am pleased to see that this poll is saying they had helped CBB so far.Maybe it will change over time but it's interesting none-the-less.

SirCiaran 10-09-2011 07:20 PM

I think they helped, I mean, I don't think I would of watched the series otherwise, I hate the two of them, but I wanted to see them without being fake, which I didn't really get to see, but it's one of the only reasons I watched it.

James 10-09-2011 08:02 PM

Deleted some posts. Usual reasons.

Vicky. 10-09-2011 08:11 PM

Some turned off because of them. But I think overall they will have helped the ratings.

Nemo123 11-09-2011 07:45 PM

So, what were the ratings?

I didn't watch. First one I didn't watch. Not watching this one either.

starry 12-09-2011 07:04 AM

Were they worth the money they got paid? I doubt it, it could have been spent on other things (presenter, live stream).

Yes,they were..
However I do think celebrities get paid too much anyway. If other commitments or other work though have to be rejected or things put on hold then for 3 weeks or more, then these fees are unfortunately a necessary part of such series being made.

Their fee certainly wouldn't have covered anything like the costs of live feed and there is a fully competent presenter in place anyway in Brian.

CaudleHalbard 12-09-2011 09:00 PM

I feel sure the boys will be invited back onto CBB9 for a task or something. If they are, that will be C5's comment on the matter, so to speak.

CBB8 would have been a bit humdrum without a bit of.........:dance:

;)

rk3388 12-09-2011 09:00 PM

i think they helped, however people like bobby sabel and sally bercow defiantly didnt help

CaudleHalbard 12-09-2011 09:04 PM

I think Sally would have got better. Bobby had no place in there.

I think alot of people are over estimating the power of Jedwards fan base, I mean they said themselves, that they have about 1000 hardcore fans, and even them saying that doesn't mean much, they were probably rounding up to the nearest thousand.

Not wanting to split hairs but they said 2000,not 1000 and whether that's the case or not personally I found that a good thing about them too, they didn't magnify it and say something daft like millions at any rate, they said a very modest figure in fact.

Suze 14-09-2011 05:24 PM

In answer to the OP's thread title post ....

Yes, I most definately do think that Jedward helped the CBB ratings. C5 should be thankful to John and Edward that they even managed to get them to appear and that they even took time out from and so thus worked around their busy work schedule to participate in that CBB, let alone making that show watchable for so many whether they were voted for by the veiwers or not, as that is besides the point, as more to the point is they did make that show for many imho :)
