Aaron said No, so Louise and Jay decided to do it because they are charitable nice people, Aaron did not like the fact that others may be perceived as better than him (as he is jealous and hungry for the money), and now everyone is turning against philanthropists and coming up with all sorts of conspiracy theories to defend the meanest housemate of them all, Aaron, against quite possibly the friendliest two, Jay and Louise. It's just ludicrous and makes me lose all hope for society if people in this world are easily susceptible to such unfriendly tactics.

BUT when Aaron said NO....so too did Jay and Louise...then they went back and changed their mind without discussing their decision with Aaron....god some of you are soooo deluded!!!

Like I said in the thread above. They would not spend the remaining 9.5k on 19 of their closest friends and family so that is why I think it's bs that thru spent that much on them. They obviously are doing it for selfish reasons eg votes and getting a bigger cut of money from Alex.

Personally if I was in Aarons position (not wanting to get the gift) and purposefully stated I WAS NOT spending money and told the other 2 people to knock themselves out and get something if they want, then I would not have behaved like Aaron did. If I didn't want to spend that much I would state HOW MUCH I was willing to spend.
I would be happy that the others got the gifts, and excited to see what they got, and happy to see that the are happy. Even feeling uncomfortable about having not participated (which Louise didn't mention that Aaron didn't spend until he made a comment to Jay) I would probably joke about being a stingy bastard and try not to effect the atmosphere. It just seemed to me he tried to manipulate his way through the situation. He couldn't even just let them have a good evening he needed to plant a seed in Jay and Louises mind.

I know for a fact that the plan was to offer cheaper and cheaper gifts. with one option being a "joint" gift for both of them.

Why anyone would buy a present for Tom is beyond me though. He's a two-faced nasty little boy that still has a grudge against Aaron since he knocked him back early on in the series.

you have got no proof bb would've brought out an argos book.

trouble is, one person on here will assume something like this and the rest of you will repeat it like its fact.

Bringing different types of people,... sure!....For people like me to watch and make personal judgements on their levels of sycophancy and post my personal deliberations on forums such as this one!...or is that concept lost on you...?

And it was obvious when BB announced that the first catalogue was the 'high-range', and the second one was the 'mid-range' that there would certainly have been a third ...'low-range' catalogue to come, (ie, Argos!).
....which was also mentioned by Emma Willis's husband on BOTS, ...so I dont consider it to be such a sretch to assume that it would have been the Argos catalogue at all!....Do you...?

Like Aaron would have done, had he gotten more than 990? He'd never share. Not even with Faye.

Maybe they should have asked Aaron again if he wanted in on the presents but they didnt because Aaron had already said no....

That to me is all Aaron should be put out about.
He accuses them of doing it for more votes after telling them if they wanted to get presents then feel free yet he is going round like a sulky child playing up to the camera's for more votes.
This bloke needs to grow up and have a serious word with himself.

Anyone who believes they did it out of the goodness of their hearts needs their head examining

OMG I have heard it all now!

Got this off (skytoy) on Ds,IMO it says it all.
I'm shocked that so many people are pouring hate on Aaron after presentgate. Take a moment to think, stop judging and condemning, and you will understand that Aaron was clearly in the right.

Aaron said that since he would not spend £500 on a pair of shoes or a watch in the real world for a friend he would not make such an extravagant purchase in the BB house. In his conversation with Jay, Jay also agreed that he would never spend such an amount on Tom and Alex in the real world. Jay said everything in the BB house was fake and artificial to which Aaron said 'But Jay you are still REAL'. Jay revealed that no he was not being real in the BB house. Jay later told Louise that had he met Aaron in the real world he would have beaten the cr*p out of him by now but that it was only because he was in the BB house that he had to act differently. Tom and Alex later said their birthday party was very fun so Aaron did not in any way ruin anything for them.

No intelligent person could watch last night's episode and then scream abuse at Aaron while praising Jay. At the end of the show Aaron said in the DR that the public were not stupid enough to not see through Jay but sadly Aaron has overestimated the intelligence of the audience. The audience, in general, just want someone to hate, someone to blame for everything, and Aaron is the easy target when on a closer analysis he is very often correct.

MachoPoodle 08-11-2011 01:59 PM

This whole thing with refusing to see (and admit) any faults at all with Aaron is getting a bit pathetic. I can see faults in my faves, don't feel the need to justify every little thing they say and do. Aaron has a positive side as well, it's just that he seem to have a reversed perception of which of his traits are positive and which are negative.
