Could be one Britain's worst ever child abuse case

A man and a woman have been arrested after one-month-old baby was allegedly raped and battered.
The tiny child had a heart attack brought on by his injuries and is fighting for his life.
He was rushed to Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford, Kent, on Thursday at 7am, but was transferred to London's King's College Hospital after having a cardiac arrest there.

This is where I really struggle to not agree with the death penalty. I know all the ins / outs and there are many arguments for and against: but the bottom line is in this type of case.

Even if the parents are completely unhinged to a very severe degree -they still know what physcial pain feels like - they know they would have been inflicting that on such a defenceless tiny baby. No one is ever going to tell me any amount of rehabilitation will sort them out. Forget all the apologists who say ''they aren't connected to reality x/y/x''.... they still know that a punch feels like, they know what physical pain is: and they inflicted it (and all manner of other horrors) on this child - they knew that much.

The story is bad enough: but the bit that really kills me inside is the tot having a heart attack (most likely due to the stress and trauma).

You don't, can't, shouldn't do that. No. They must be mental.

Exactly what I was thinking!

How anyone can bring themselves to do something so sick, cruel and downright evil to a poor defenceless baby disgusts me. I just can't. It's more than sick.

Latest update: the wee fella is still on life support machine, but people are not happy as can be read here.

Police were last night forced to subdue a 100-strong angry mob who had gathered on a street where a one-month-old baby boy was allegedly raped and battered so badly its heart stopped.
The infant remained in a serious condition today after allegedly suffering multiple horrific injuries in Gravesend, Kent, in one of Britain's worst cases of child abuse.
The boy's horrendous injuries are said to include a broken arm, broken collarbone, punctured lungs and severe bruising, as well as having all his ribs fractured.

He also reportedly suffered sexual injury and internal wounds, suggesting rape.
A group which initially gathered outside the house where the attack allegedly took place started a candlelit vigil, which soon led to damage as emotions ran high.
A man aged 35 and a woman aged 33 were arrested and released on police bail.
One of those involved in the vigil said they had gone to a house where they believed a man arrested in connection with the incident was staying with his family after he was released on police bail.

It's a harrowing story alright, but stuff like this isn't very smart at all:

Quote:

Those taking part said the group marched round to the house where it is thought the man arrested lived, before objects were thrown at the property and a car on the driveway damaged
First off it's easily possible they've got the wrong house and secondly being arrested doesn't mean that they are guilty, premature vigilantism can be dangerous

Oh I agree with all you have said. They have to ensure that they have the right people and we know how simple it is for the wrong person to be vilified. Chris Jefferies for example.

I'm happy to allow the pair of bastards to be formally identified as being those who did the harm - then throw them to the baying crowds. Though I'd say the connection to a 33 and 35 year old who have a month old baby, both of whom have suddenly disappeared from their home, child no longer about, in a particular area: wouldn't be so difficult to establish - especially when the police are doing forensics in a house that the child belonged. Kinda hard not to identify who the parents without too much brainwork.

Fact remains that the parents still allowed this baby to suffer (even if for some unbelieveable reason they weren't actually involved directly) - they still could not have missed the sheer distress of a month old baby - and allowed it to suffer.

One thing I've not picked up on - how did it come to light? Anyone seen that reported anywhere?
