BOLD: Who I want to win, certainly not who will win.

The Brit awards are a joke anyway.

Adele is set to make her UK live comeback at the 2012 Brit Awards ceremony.

The announcement was made at the Brits 2012 launch event this evening (January 12) at the Savoy Hotel in Central London. Noel Gallagher, Coldplay, Rihanna, Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran all also confirmed to perform live at the ceremony, which takes place February 21 at London's O2 Arena. It is also rumoured that Adele will sing at the Grammy's ceremony in Los Angeles on February 12.

The '21' singer went under the knife to have vocal chord microsurgery in America last year, in order to stop recurrent bleeding from a benign polyp. Her condition had forced her to cancel all of her remaining live dates of 2011, as she scrapped 10 scheduled dates in North America and six shows in the UK in order to have the surgery.

At the Brits launch event, Jessie J awarded Emeli Sande with the Brits Critics' Choice gong for 2012. Jessie J - who is up for three awards in total - revealed that she will be shaving her head for charity in the coming months. She also said she is working on her second album, an experience which she called "daunting".

Both Emeli Sande and Ed Sheeran performed at the launch event. Sheeran is up for a total of four Brits awards.

Brits 2012 host James Cordon also made an appearance at the Savoy and revealed that he had once stolen a Brit Award belonging to 1990s singer Lisa Stansfield and still had it at home.

Adele performing :amazed: I hope she performs Set Fire to the Rain so it goes to no. 1 like what happened with SLY, can't believe it didn't even make the top 10.

IheartBB 12-01-2012 08:22 PM

Where is Best International Album?! Don't tell me they've scrapped it? :bored: And I thought Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds were a band?..

Anyways, my predictions;

Aside from a few exceptions the nominations are as piss poor as usual. Why do people like Ed Sheeran? I've come across Floral Patterns that are more interesting then him.

I really enjoyed last year's awards. Arcade Fire surprising everyone and winning two awards, Laura Marling winning best female and the performances

the best year though was the one with the Pet Shop Boys medley (feat. Brandon Flowers and Lady GaGa)... that was phenomenal.

This... <3. I think I cried when I found out they won two brit awards and the main Grammy in the space of 24 hours.

So sad :p.

Stu 14-01-2012 07:33 PM

It was depressing because of how awful, unmemorable and shamelessly pretentious The Suburbs was.

I don't know, man. It sounded like I should have loved it but it felt like I was missing some thing in my brain that would enable me to enjoy it. I'm not sure if I should blame myself or the band. I just found it so unengaging.

In retrospect Neon Bible is a load of **** as well. Funeral is Arcade Fire. They hit it perfect on the first go.

Most of these nominees are nobodies. Our music must be completely awful if s**t like The Military Wives are nominated for best single :bored:

LaLaLand 13-02-2012 03:07 PM

Are they doing the same as last year where the critics decide or whatever they did, emphasis on music wasn't it? Hence why Laura Marling and Arcade Fire won and stuff?

Hope so.

Lana Del Rey needs to win also. How Nicki Minaj is a breakthrough act is beyond me.

:worship: what a fabulous 48 hours was, the recognition Arcade Fire got in those hours almost made my 2011 perfect.

Jords 13-02-2012 04:49 PM

I didnt like The Suburbs first play but I didnt give it my full attention. The actual suburb-theme put me off a bit Im not sure why. But then I remember hearing Ready To Start and thinking WHO SINGS THIS? And it turned out Arcade Fire which probed me to play the album again and its good, really good

Z 13-02-2012 05:52 PM

In Ed Sheeran's defence, he worked very hard to build up a following by touring the country all the time and sleeping on couches, I think I read somewhere that he didn't have a permanent residence for quite some time (not sure if this is still the case) and I think his songwriting is simple but that's part of the charm. I was trying to get people to listen to the few songs of his I'd heard quite a long time before The A Team hit radios and in that time got a bit sick of him myself, I don't think his music is made for repetitive listening like the generic Pitbull ft. Nicki Minaj-esque dance dross that we get every week it seems...

They never really get it right. As much as I love to bitch about them, I do think it's a shame that The Saturdays didn't even get so much as a nomination when their equally **** peers The Wanted, JLS etc are all getting nominations for just as shoddy efforts.

Shaun 13-02-2012 07:40 PM

I think the singles are the top 10 selling singles of the year, I may be wrong though

Callum 21-02-2012 01:38 AM

Tonight 8PM ITV1 :spin2:

Only performer I'm looking forward to really is Adele. I hope she performs Set Fire to the Rain and it gets her another #1 over here.
