Well America began with a lot of Irish immigrants, so it makes some sense.

Well Scottish accents shouldn't even be considered English imo, sounds like a totallay different language to me.

Good, wouldn't want my Scottish accent to be considered as sounding English since it is a Scottish accent. If we don't sound like our language is English, then what about scousers?
