True. Funny when Denise constantly bitches about MM its ok - the few times MM says anything - its apalling/uncalled for etc. Such double standards. The Gareth quip was actually quite funny.:joker:

Denise has caused most of the trouble in the house because of her drink. She has violated personal space, tried to control Michael, I have lost all respect for the woman. How can you not see that?

Kizzy 27-01-2012 11:56 AM

who else had their conduct called into question time after time after time, or had a former page 3 girl haul her out of a hottub?...hmmm lemme think

He really liked hearing those cheers for him. The only way he would redeem himself in my eyes is to treat Denise with courtesy and put the nude twins in their place - tag teaming 90 year old Hef

I really think this is a well observed comment and thank you for making it!

It seems to me that the only thing Denise did wrong was to like him...This seemed to open up the channels for him to use her as a 'whipping boy" as you very rightly point out. I believe Denise is a very handy tool for him to direct his obvious aggression at in the hot house of BB. There is a strong psychological element of safety in this since she really likes him and will therefore a) blame herself if he does not reciprocate...and b) inadvertently go back for more simply because she genuinely does not understand why someone she admires so much is so aloof and intensely belligerent towards her.

He has made a thin 'friendship' with the twins and then uses them to direct his vitriol over Denise. Again - this is a clever move - since he can then offload all his angst and since they are not admirers of Denise (how could someone as old as her beat them and be admired - pretty much in the same vein as they dismissed Natalie for not being as beautiful as them - ha!) they will ALWAYS agree with him.

I believe Michael has no particular strong feelings towards Denise - she is just another fan in many ways and he is used to that. I would say his biggest problem is rationalising WHY he took the gig in the first place...Surely a big star like him should not be doing BB and having to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous ignomy for having to do all he is doing to try to get a somewhat defunct career going again. He is an intelligent man and has let himself down by aligning himself to the two flimsiest housemates who are amusingly deluded about their own abilities and indeed reality.

Denise has suffered for no good reason at the hands of this extremely attractive but unkind man. He has over-egged the pudding of Denise's so called faults to the point of cringing now...Why? Because she is the easiest one to sound off at...He has never taken issue with any of the men - quite the opposite and Denise has only demonstrated a caring outlook towards him. She genuinely does not know what she has done wrong. That's because she has done nothing wrong where he is concerned. For a man who expects women to unpack for him (he made this clear when he arrived...'I've got a good woman who does all this for me' etc) ... his problem is his predicament NOT Denise...

Maybe he should NOT have taken the gig - perhaps he should have got a new agent rather than unleashing all of his dissatisfaction at actually being in the house at Denise. This is all new stuff for Denise who is used to being liked and admired for all the good points of her warm and caring personality. He is the worst kind of man who reduces women who admire him to nothing because he is feeling so bad about himself. How can he try to mentor Frankie when he is not evolved enough himself? Denise was always an easy target wasn't she? Out of everyone in the house she has worked the hardest to include him, care about him and embrace him - However, he has rewarded her effort with scant rewards for the effort she has made. He uses her drinking to illustrate the fact she is unhinged - this coming from an (allegedly) self-avowed drinker and drug taker is really rich...When he was an (alleged) drunk would he have levelled the same amount of vitriol at himself?

The sad irony in all of this is that Denise could have probably helped him more than any other person in the house - but with his personality he would just scupper that wouldn't he?

Most unfair and I really feel sorry for Denise and all of her good intentions towards him. It's just so easy to say she fancies him and mock her for that...She just liked him and wanted him to feel and be included. Pearl before swine...I believe he's the one with the problems - big time...I also believe he was chosen for EXACTLY that reason. He should have gone and done some charity work and tried to put something back rather than taking this gig. He shouldn't be there - he knows this - is embarrassed by it and Denise has sadly been the the unwittingly accommodating brunt of his inner demons. Not good...

Great post, only 1 thing I don't agree with, from a personal point of view. I don't find him in the least bit attractive never mind extremely attractive.

I dont think she ever "liked him", I believe, she liked the idea of them being friends..she would have liked him in her gang, .she would love to be invited Malibu....and would relish the idea of going to visit him and being able to brag about it, (she is not adverse to name dropping, or visiting...poor Robbie Williams), unfortunately instead of chilling and being normal she went about it like a bull in a china shop..reeking at times of desperation....and the rest is history

This is a good point - and it's certainly not beyond the realms of possibility that she liked the 'idea' of them being friends. I really can see how compelling that idea may seem/be.

I don't know if she would have wanted to further that relationship to be able to brag about it - only Denise herself could honestly answer that I guess.

When she first met him when she entered I remember her saying "I'm going to have a really good time in here" (or words to that effect). So I imagine she expected their relationship to be a good one since she generally appears to have good relationships and people (her peers) seem to admire her (evident from those who know her who talk about her). So I think her expectations were high and she imagined people in the house would be the same as those she comes into contact with in her every day life. Possibly this is why she has struggled so much in the house. Normally she does not have to compete and in many ways this is a popularity contest...

I always struggle with the concept/construction of Big Brother (since it seems to play on people's insecurities) yet I always feel compelled to watch. I am deeply interested from a psychological point of view...Dealing with conflict is very definitely a learned skill. For instance Romeo went in chilled and came out chilled and never raised his voice once - yet managed to be a strong voice of non-judgemental reason throughout...however he did not win...despite his negotiating skills and his kindness...

Good luck to them all tonight.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Denise has gone out of her way to annoy him very cleverly so that she looks like the victim. She is earning her fee as the highest paid HM in there.
