Well this is dire. I was planning to at least learn Nicki's verse since I can rap about 80% of her songs/songs she's featured on but if you blink you'll miss her part and her rap is **** anyway.

Actually not all that bad, and Nicki Minaj isn't in it enough to ruin it fully.

I liked the video. Madonna looked amazing, as did Nicki & M.I.A. I liked the simple and fun nature of it, just like the song.
Anyway I'm not judging the album on singles. I'm just hoping for something on the same level as Ray of Light or Music. I like the song & video anyhow and idgaf about what anyone else thinks. |
It's growing on me, but only because i'm TRYING to love it. I so wish MAdonna had something stronger. Especially because i hated Hard Candy, so for me, this does seem lazy. I expected her to bring out something revolutionary like she did with ROL.
It just sounds like what some producer told her would be popular, it doesn't sound like she really cares about this. and before anyone attacks me, i am a HUGE MAdonna fan. |
It's almost like she just wanted to put an album out because she was putting an movie out, so if her movie doesn't do well, atleast she'll be able to revel in her album's success, and do a tour, so the sting of her movie doing badly won't hurt so bad.
The whole thing seems so calculated. I don't feel like i'm really listening to a MADONNA track when i listen to it. |
Knows she wouldn't sell well herself so gets two popular and current artists to feature on it. Very smart.

This is absolutely terrible. The production of it feels as bad as RB with Friday. I do not mind Nicki's bit but the rest is god awful.

People who are complaining of the fun nature of it she has said that the album will be "Action Packed" and some of the songs will be deeply thought out. If you look at Masterpiece (Golden Globe Winner) it shows that the album will have some well thought out tracks and not just fun.
The whole weekend release IS slighly calculated, with the Super Bowl performance the sales will shoot up in the US, already MDNA has topped the worldwide iTunes chart on over 50 countries (at one point or another). Celebration has also topped the iTunes chart in some countries. Her film release is expected next week in the US and of course the Super Bowl will premote that. The Hard Candy era as much as it was not critically liked, she was "Stone Cold" and I am glad she is being fun in this era. |
Right so no surprises here, the song has grown on me and I like it now. Well it's sort of weak compared to most of her stuff but it's catchy. The L-U-V Madonna bit is so dreadful that I like it. And the raps are also growing better with each listen.
However, and now I know I like a lot of artists with dreadful lyrics (Pixie Lott & Ke$ha spring to mind) I have to say the lyrics in this song are dreadful. I love how she says "every record sounds the same" and then says something about girls and stepping into her world. It's like, srsly? And the bit after Nicki's rap is pretty awful too. Nevermind, the song is good. |
