I may be wrong on this kizzy, maybe you know more on this than I do,I don't though think the Mormon church just converts the dead generally, I think if someone newly converts to their Faith then would like some or all of their loved ones gone before them to be accepted into the faith too, then the Mormon faith will do that and encourage it to be done too by holding a service to recognise the lost loved ones as members of the Church too.

I have chatted with Mormon missionaries and really like a lot of what they do, they are very strong on family bonds and connection so although I myself don't agree with converting the dead, I can accept they would do it in repsonse to a desire from a new convert.

I hold Christian values myself but equally like you I dislike organized religions, however, Christian faith instructs that the dead are elsewhere, not gone completely.

I did in my earlier post. im not repeating myself, that is my opinion.

I wasn't being critical of your view, overall I agree with your take on things. You made a very strong point as to the wrongs of organised religions.

I was just trying to balance my own view with the official Mormon view.
However personally, were I to convert to a particular religion,no way would I want or expect any of my loved ones gone before me to have any conversions done for them.

I understand, thankyou joey :) If you choose to convert/adopt a religion that is great. But to suggest your great grandfather should is wrong on so many levels.Im not religious but quite spiritual, i think those passed deserve respect.

My personal thinking is exactly the same as yours as to that kizzy, you made very strong points.

i'm just asking cause obviously this topic involves religion. I'm an agnostic personally. (raised catholic though)

Now that sounds very much like a dig lostalex.

To mess around with the the 'principles' that a person held when alive - now that they are dead - tbh, one hell of a sick & warped sense of humour imo.

I am not religious in any way, shape or form but I happen to think this is extremely distasteful - regardless of how funny some others think it may be.

ok, well you are wrong, it wasn't a dig.

i would have made the comment in response to anyone on the forum, so i wasn't targetting or "digging" at her.

yu honestly think DTR is a common abbreviation? so how is it a dig that i asked her? It LOOKS like doctor. I have had a psychiatrist before, why do you think having a psychiatrist would be insulting? seriously it's almost like you are harassing me and targetting me right now. If you wanna talk about someone DIGGING.

You know i woulda said the same thing to anyone on the forum. It wasn't a dig.

Kizzy 25-02-2012 04:44 AM

She is 18...anal sex? whats wrong with you!

It was not the doctor comment, it was your additional 'like a pyschiatrist' comment and I suspect you know that fine well.

Most people think of a doctor as in GP.

As for me harrassing and targetting you. Given this was my first comment on this thread - I doubt that very much. I found your comments on here the most disagreeable towards other fms - hence why I responded.

I didn't say you were insulting, I said it sounded like you were having a dig. Big difference.

That's how forums work.

That's not discussing the topic. Feel free to PM me, if I want to discuss this further, I will do it off the board.

how strange that you didn't give me that same courtesy when you addressed me... how peculiar, some might even say hypocritical.

Kizzy 25-02-2012 05:13 AM

There is no point being argumentative with other members new to the topic, i have shown my 'child' is of an age to make her own mind up on the discussion. Well just the religious issue , nothing else...
