Then that is down to their own stupidity again.

Kizzy 30-03-2012 02:19 PM

Im not sure what point you are trying to make here?
Getting back to the original discussion if the injured lady had not been advised by government officials to use this method she would not have suffered the incident.
It may have been unwise of her to handle the petrol in the manner she did, but the scaremongering preceded the act.

Human error, she'd be up for a Darwin Award if she'd died...

That both acts you mentioned are down to sheer stupidity of the person and that nobody else is accountable for them. Not really difficult to understand, Kizzy.

I agree ..... the Tories persistently make matters worse, except for their paymasters - THEY, of course, will NOT want for a gallon of petrol for any of their fleets of gas-guzzling limousines and 4x4s .....

I have seen people on phones while filling their car.

..so I guess then...the car manufacturers are to blame for all of the road accidents

thesheriff443 30-03-2012 05:27 PM

this accident involves fuel, and thats the only link that it has to the panic buying of petrol,
accidents like this happen every day!
people dont realise how volatile the fumes are in petrol, or that the spark from a lightswitch when there is a gas leak can cause an explosion!

Petrol station mobile risk 'myth'

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...shire-17568804

Quote:

The commonly-held belief that turning on a mobile phone in a petrol station can cause an explosion could be a myth, researchers have said.

Dr Adam Burgess, of the University of Kent, said that out of 243 petrol station fires attributed to mobiles around the world in the last 11 years, not one was caused by a handset.

Researchers said static electricity from the body caused many of the fires.
Spontaneous human combustion .....

It's sad she was burned but she should have known better.
