Yeah he was part of a duo with some black girl... he didn't even make the final two (some woman did, I can't remember her name, but Terry Wogan called her name instead of Scooch's... think it might have been Cyndi?)

Arctic Monkeys..i mean i still love them but when they came out they were made out to be the next beatles and even their latest album..no one really gave a **** about it

Kizzy 02-04-2012 09:57 PM

I heard he was on drugs too, and he was not 'classically handsome' but wow what a voice!

Bollo 02-04-2012 10:11 PM

Ladyhawke. I first saw her on the comedy show FM and then caught snatches of her songs at friends houses/ on the radio and thought she sounded promising....So I bought the album and was massively disappointed..she's ok as quiet background noise but the music doesn't hold up to a proper listen, just a bit blah really

Shaun 02-04-2012 10:13 PM

:nono: Ladyhawke is amazing

I always wondered if that was cos Alex went off to do Last Shadow Puppets, kinda stopped the momentum

Yeah I thought she had massive potential when I just heard little snatches of her songs, but when I listened to the songs/album...it just didn't have enough oomph for me, sorry Shaun

Corinne Bailey Rae, The Kooks, Hard-Fi, Kristian Leontiou, Sandie Thom, La Roux...

Mystic Mock 03-04-2012 12:13 AM

Keane is another group that failed to live up to the hype.

I like the group but they're not as massive as I was expecting them to be.

You've now got that song stuck in my head. :joker:

Whatever happened to her?

Shaun 03-04-2012 12:17 AM

Her husband died. It was really sad, and she wrote an album about it that came out either last year or the year before... it was really well-received, and I think got Mercury-nominated, and it did get to #5 in the UK

Niall 03-04-2012 12:20 AM

Jessie J didn't live up to the critical hype she amassed last year. 'Who You Are' is such a mess of an album. .__.

Awww. I liked her, but she seemed to fade into obscurity so quickly. I didn't know she had a new album.

Dido is another one. She had two massive world-wide selling albums, then, gone.

Their singles have never really done that well but all three albums went to no. 1 and the first is 9 x platinum. They have a new album coming out next month Their last was in 2008.

As much as I'll get slated for this, Lady GaGa didn't live up to her hype. The first album amazing, but she has failed to make any real impression with her second offering.

Shaun 03-04-2012 12:26 AM

I think Dido took a massive break because she became a mum. I think she's coming back soon though.
