Okay, I'm no film expert and I certainly don't watch thousands upon thousands of films every year... however....

THIS FILM IS QUITE POSSIBLY THE BIGGEST PILE OF ABSOLUTE CRAP TO HAVE EVER BEEN MADE.

I'm not exagerrating, far from it, this film is ATROCIOUS!!! It makes NO sense and the story is so ******ing retarded.

DO NOT GO TO SEE IT

You have been warned

I went to see it on Friday and its amazing.

You obviously just didnt understand the toungue in cheek nature of it. Its made by the makers of Buffy The Vampire Slayer And Angel which is also very over the top and have a wicked sense of humour.

I reccomend this film to everyone, really, really good.

I literally couldnt tell where the film was gonna go next lol.

91% of top critics gave it a good review so it cant be that bad lol.

Think you must have gone in expecting a serious horror film an just didnt understand the humour.

Joss Whedon is amazing.

I love Whedon but this film

You're in the minority thinking that though.

What were you expecting to see?

:bored: Don't try to lecture me on how to watch films, I've seen plenty. I get Whedon and I'm a big fan of Buffy & Angel but this film was laughable and ridiculous. I wasn't expecting a serious horror because the trailer gave away that it was some messed up film so I went in expecting nothing and was hoping the film would take me somewhere, but it didn't it was entirely random and not worth a hour and a half of my time and the money.

Like you said in your original post "Okay, I'm no film expert and I certainly don't watch thousands upon thousands of films every year... " LOL

If this was an episode of Buffy would you have thought it was good?

Yeah but I said that so as to not come across as some arrogant film critic who thinks they know everything, because I don't. I understand the notion of tongue in cheek horror but this film did not satisfy any enjoyment for me.

Looking back at episodes of Buffy I do sometimes cringe, but I guess to me it doesn't seem AS farfetched as this movie did. Was just expecting it to bring a little more, possibly more gore/death  I think what added to my dislike was the use of some covert governmental organisation kind of bringing ridiculous mythical creatures to the world and letting them kill random kids.

This film was pretty much identical to a Buffy episode which contain military operations, zombies/demons/werewolves which is why i loved it. Buffy actors even popped up in it.

Have you ever seen "The Evil Dead" or "Drag Me To Hell"? It was very similar to those.

Oh and in regards to the teens being watched it was very Big Brother lol

Can you honestly say this movie didnt make you laugh? The whole cinema were pissing themselves...In a good way.

It reminded me of those films which i love :)

I appreciate that it ticks all your boxes, and in a way it should do the same as me because I loved Buffy, BB and HG (which is similar with 1 survivor, people running it etc) but I just didn't, I don't know why.

The way it was promoted and advertised made it seem like a serious and scary movie but it was just kinda laughable, but not in a good way at all. Was kind of like "am I really seeing this?" [example: the japanese girls with the ghost/frog] I mean wtf was that  It probably needed to be longer or more character building for me to make a connection.

Anyway, I realise I have exaggerated when making this thread but that was because I had literally just got home from seeing it and I needed to vent my fury at the film :D

Iceman 22-04-2012 03:08 PM

This movie was worse than a giant turd being thrown in your face.

This is probably why you didnt enjoy it though coz you went to the cinema expecting to see a scary movie and ended up watching a complete different film.

Dont know how you can complain about the mythical creatures and stuff though if you're a fan of Buffy? Its pretty much a big budget Buffy episode.

:nono:

I dont understand how anyone can hate it that much when so many people love it.

Why did you dislike it?

Marc 22-04-2012 03:16 PM

That's cos people have different opinions LOL

Like JH95 said above, the critics gave good reviews for Insidious and that was awful IMO and that WAS trying to be serious. Critics reviews aren't all that

Thats still better than FD5, Paranormal Activity 2 (etc) both of which were better than insidious by a mile.

It's called personal preference. The same way some people love Lady Gaga, some don't.

It would be a hell of a boring world if we all like the same things.
