This is a really smart choice from the producers, especially Britney who is a huge star who everyone will be interested to see as a judge probably more because of her personal life than her musical contribution, but will rack in the viewers. I know very little about Demi but by bringing her in they've extended their market to younger viewers.

Apparently Demi is getting paid $14m less than Britney for the gig at just $1m, double standards really because as much as I like Britney, Demi is more talented than her.

But Britney is a much bigger star. I'm a massive fan! :cheer:

So true. I'm a fan of both Demi and Britney but its clear that Britney is there to bring in the viewers and not because she has an amazing voice like Demi does, though Britney has years of experience in the industry. Still excited for sure :dance:

Not surprising. Britney is much more marketable than Demi.

However, I do think $15 mill is extortionate for such an average 'popstar' who once was a good dancer, but now nothing more than a 30 year old woman with issues.

If you call skipping around a stage a "performance" then you're right, Britney does it well.

Britney is going to bring in sooooo many more viewers than they had originally. That's such an amazing signing.

I think Demi is good for the younger teens etc. but lets face it the Girl catagory should really go to Britney

Demi is an ex Disney star who has famously battled addictions and bulimia. I think she's a good role model for young girls because she often speaks out about her troubles to help others with eating disorders and for someone in her position to do that is commendable. She's also probably the only Disney star who has a natural singing voice. I think she's a good singing because she'll bring in the younger audience which the TV advertisers strive for.

for the first episode maybe... i can't imagine Britney will be able to hold the viewers though. They will tune in just to see if she's as nuts as everyone thinks she is, and once they see that she's not nuts, she's just nice to everyone, they'll get bored quickly.

Jesus, Britney's voice will be too much too handle two mins into the show. not good

She'll probably have: "I love [insert US state here], and I love your voice. It's a yes from me" programmed into her.

Someone said on another site that they think that Demi will be Cheryl Cole 2.0.

I don't even understand firing Cheryl in the first place. Mostly everyone over here loved her and could understand her so...FOX should be kicking themselves in the ass.

and about that voice comment they had in that video. Sure the ratings declined as the series went on, but It was #1 usually in the 18-49 demo which is crucial in america and it was NBC's top rated show still.

It's amazing to see that they've got Britney, I can't wait those what she's like.

Demi on the other hand, hmm...I'm sorry but she looks like a contestant with the mentors in the OP.

Demi is a big step up from Cheryl Cole, she is a household name in America where as nobody knew who Cheryl was. I can not see her being fired, she has a huge fanbase who will tune in to see her and she's already said that she will be an honest judge. They are both signed for only one season though so both could choose to leave at the end of their contracts. It's not like they need this gig anyway.

She does look fantastic, I just feel that she may not be experienced enough to be a judge. She's only 19 bless her, and she's going to have to look after quite a few acts.
