I've had a straight ban for my views on Jade before, so I'll just say:

Oh Goody...

Shanna 30-05-2012 10:16 AM

Actually, I did always like Jade. I believed her to be real. Funny and entertaining. She might have not been the brightest spark in the box, but that added to who she was.

I don't condone the remarks she made towards Shilpa, she made a stupid mistake. One that was seen by millions of people, and something we are all guilty of...not being perfect. It's only human. I think her ignorance more than anything sparked those remarks, and the fact she was clearly riled by her...I know I can't sit here and say I have never said something in the heat of the moment, not racial remarks of course. But I consider myself to be a good person, and I for one would absolutely hate to have it held against me in life, and in death.

As for what Omah said, I had no idea she had ignored symptoms, I always thought it was thrust upon her. I will be watching the programme, having lost my cousin aged 24 to the same illness and having actually liked Jade Goody.

We may not be perfect, but we don't all turn into racist bullies either when we don't like a person.

You say you don't condone the remarks she made to Shilpa, before then going on to condone them.

Jade was a vile caricature. I feel sorry for her boys, and the people who loved her, but let's not re-write Jade into something she wasn't. The world is not a worse place because jade no longer inhabits it. She only became sorry about those remarks, once she saw the impact her bullying and racism had on her impact to make money, and rain death threats on her.

The world needs to sweep Jade under the carpet and forget she ever existed, not remember her with another documentary.

This is the timeline of Goody's illness:

http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...eply&p=5161646

These are extracts :

Quote:

1997
Jade has abnormal cells removed from her cervix, at the age of 15.

According to the NHS Cancer Screening Programme, this is incredibly rareIn 2006 only 54 women under the age of 25 died from cervical cancer, and no one under the age of 20 has died from the disease in the last 2 years..
Quote:

February 2008
Photographers snap Jade coming out of the doctor's - she tells them she is undergoing tests for cancer
Quote:

August 2008
Jade's rushed to hospital after collapsing and losing blood. She's kept in while experts try to find the cause and she says it's the 4th time this has happened over 4 years.

Later the same month, 2 days after entering the Indian version of Big Brother, Jade is called into the Diary Room and told she has cervical cancer.

Jade reveals that she has had abnormal cells removed from her cervix 3 times in the past.

She also admits that she ignored a letter saying abnormal results had been found from a smear test a 4th time, because she was scared to go back to the hospital.
Quote:

At the time of Jade's death, it seemed as though she went from being healthy to extremely ill in a very short period of time - which might have made you worry about your own health. But Jade revealed shortly before her death that she'd been having symptoms for 3 years.
I've always maintained that there was more to the "Jade Goody Cancer" than has ever been made public - a belief precipitated by Goody's February 2008 comment, which was NOT widely published, a rare occurrence for Goody quotes, and the rapid and severe public onset of her illness, which, of course, she made sure was world news. Goody frequently criticised hospitals and staff before her "official" diagnosis but, suspiciously, she never took legal action against any hospital and they were gracious enough not to take any action against her.

I don't know why people only seem to remember and blame Jade for the race row, she wasn't even the worst offender in it all.

People don't only remember Jade for it, but Jades name comes up more here because it's a Big Brother site and this thread is about her. IIRC Jo from s club 7 got it as bad if not worse than Jade. Dannielle managed to get away pretty unscathed as far as I can remember well apart from getting dumped by her footballer b/f..........not sure if that was because of it or not though

Well...we are all entitled to our own opinions :)

I'm likely going to get slated for it but I will say it anyway, I liked her as a contestant. Yes I know she said things she shouldn't have and acted in ways that were inappropriate. But so did lots of other contestants I liked. If Shilpa can see past it, then so can I.

Thanks Omah...I actually don't know too much about her life. Just the obvious things that are in the media. Wonder if the show will talk about those things. Thanks for the info! Is there any information on when it will be aired?

Goody was a very, very stupid woman who, as a teenager, had medical problems and who, as a woman, decided to ignore the continuing symptoms and doctors' diagnosis and advice to earn £100k in India - it may well be that her cancer was already too far advanced to be "cured" but, inexcusably, she put her children through a massively publicised experience of serious illness and loss ..... :yuk:

Her only "legacy" was to leave a mess to be cleared up by other people, particulary Jeff Brazier, who had to take care of the boys, while fending off Ma Budden and Jack "The Spurter" Tweedy ..... :idc:

You calling her boys a mess? lol

Hes their dad ofcourse he should take care of them

Apparently, both boys had behavioural problems and one had learning difficulties, all caused by Goody's use of them in the public domain ..... :(

Of course, he was happy to, and the first thing he did was to take them out of the spotlight .....

So Jade is to blame because her kids were BORN with learning difficulties? My God.... Anyways, I liked the woman. We all made mistakes, saying racist and hurtful cments hardly meant that she deserved what she went through. End of in my opinon.

Jo did not get nowhere near the same amount as bad press that Jade got and she IMO was the worst offender out of the three.

That newspaper front cover sums The Sun up to a tee.

Ten dead people shoved to the top and the entire page taken up by Jade Goody.

Thats ridiculous.

Wheres your source for this?

MTVN 31-05-2012 01:18 PM

They were all racist but I think Jack was probably the worst, he actually did call her a "p*ki" didn't he? Although everyone just thought he was a dick anyway so it didn't do his reputation that much harm

Jo may not have gotten it as bad as Jade in the press but she had a terrible time in real life, she was getting alot of threats and I think she had some sort of a break down. The only reason Jade was focused on more in the press was because Jo was pretty irrelevant by then where as Jade had previously been a media star.

MTVN 31-05-2012 01:47 PM

Yeah I remember an interview with Jo after where she said she came very close to suicide because of it all

daniel-lewis-1985 31-05-2012 02:06 PM

She looks awful here. Danielle Lloyd got away with the whole situation even though her behaviour was actually racist.
