I thought the same, otherwise why would he open up so early on in the show?

Maybe he just not ashamed of what he is, therefor doesn't have to keep it secret.

Which is far enough, although didn't he say that on the outside, only his family and wife knew? He doesn't tell friends or colleagues but tells people he's known for less than a day.

Perhaps it's his game plan? Make them all feel flattered that he feels comfortable letting them know, and win them all over, never get nommed?

..Well that lasted long.
This is going to sound really petty and insensitive but,

THEY HAVE A ****** IN THE HOUSE AND THEY CAN'T EVEN PULL THAT OF ANYMORE?
In 2004, the nation was grippped with Nadia's storyline.

No actually, kudos to Luke - for telling them and being honest about it. At the end of the day, it's his choice. And it says more about the guy that he's not going to rely on that part of him to win the show, same can't be said for that beast Nadia Almada.

Maybe he feels if they find out later and he hasn't said anything then they might feel he has been hiding it from them and regard him as a game player? Who knows?

I guess he thought he's already told 3 million people watching, and seeing as he'll potentially be living with these people for the next 10 weeks they might as well know too

1.14am: Luke A plans to tell everyone in the House his secret. He's a little worried about how Arron and Luke S will react. #bbuklive

Why would you care about what Arron thinks? He's not exactly intimidating.

Sara already knew from the auditions so that's probably forced Luke to reveal it to the house earlier than planned.

I liked Lauren's reaction congratulating Luke on "having the balls" to talk about it.

"Hopefully one day" was Luke's quick response.

I don't really see why he has to tell anyone, but I guess sooner or later if he doesn't it'll get shouted over the wall or something
