Although The Crips are associated with blue, most of Adam's blue clothing was associated with the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. Many Angelenos "bleed Dodger Blue."

The chances of anyone connected to The Crips watching that second of BOTS is negligible. Adam would have a greater chance of being shot if he were to simply return to "certain" neighborhoods around Los Angeles, gang affiliation or not.

I felt awful for Adam because Emma ruined his night by bringing up his shameful past which he has already said, he is a FORMER GANG MEMBER...

Absolutely ashamed of BOTS

I did not see anything wrong with it. He's mentioned his former life, but he doesn't seem like someone who's trying to lose the association. Also, when he walked on stage, he made a gesture with his hands - they looked like gang gestures, but they could have meant 'Hi Mom'.

Who else dresses the way he does except gang members or wannabes? Also, he wears a BLUE BANDANA. What else could he be - he sure as hell won't wear a red or yellow one.

That's a reason why sports clothes tend to be banned in schools. Gangs assume them to show their loyalty to their gang while appearing to blend in. People get killed over the dumbest things with these gangs.

Did you see him walk out on stage flashing what could be interpreted as gang signs?

For some reason, I still don't believe he's the hardcore gang member he claims he was. He's just some big, dumb criminal who went to jail.

Even when Emma asked him about sussing people out and she tried helping him with the answer, he could not figure it out. Sorry, but criminals are generally witty/smart.

Bottom line, what Emma did is the equivalent of using a racial slur as a joke, not understanding that it's not a joke. It's just one more example of the mentality of the Ch5 BB production staff and how clueless they are about the real world.

You must be joking! How is saying someone was a member of a gang(fact) equivalent to calling someone a p*k*, n*g**r, g**k, etc?

It's equally tactless, thoughtless, and done with no regard for the consequences.

She said that because he has not tried to make that a secret. Not sure why he reacted in shock - a bit silly considering he mentioned that in his VT, dresses like a gang member, and made gestures as he walked onstage.

I think a better analogy is needed here. Calling him a former member of the crips is not the same as calling him a n***er.

He mentioned it in one of his audition interviews, not his official intro VT. Something he had no idea would be aired. As for "dresses like a gang member", he dresses like pretty much every rap music fan in the US, if anything, more understated than most. He does not wear all blue or only blue, and he doesn't flash real gang signs on the show - he uses a fake one the smokers made up to refer to themselves before Deana became an outsider. Lauren frequently uses it as well.

There's no "better analogy" needed here. Emma said something that simply should not be said openly like that on TV. While she might be excused for being too stupid to know better, the production team should've had the sense to look into it before putting it on her teleprompter. It's obviously a cultural ignorance - no tv show anywhere in the US would've been so flippant about it - but that doesn't excuse it.
