above BBC

"channel really going to be the receptacle for shows,"

Neighbours

Watched it, a bit trashy and far fetched (not dissimilar from the original  ) But good cheesy viewing, I'll watch again next week.

It's a good series, the original Dallas is still brilliant after all these years

Locke. 06-09-2012 02:27 PM

Watched the first episode last night, was a bit crap but the girl playing Jessie Metcalfe's wife is unreal

That's all Dallas ever was, a soap opera. It never pretended it wasn't.

The hype surrounding this reboot was somewhat obscuring that fact.

I do not tend to watch soaps and was not exactly a fan of the old Dallas, I just happened to have a relative who is now dead who was more into it. I never did see the one where Bobby was brought back from the dead. The worse contrived plot twist ever

I did see the special in the 1990's where they did a sort of "It's a Wonderful life" in reverse where JR was given the chance to see what things would have been like if he had never been.

If it is occupying the 9pm Wednesday slot it looks like I may have that free for other things.

Besides I found it immensely depressing and I have enough of that in real life.

Marsh. 07-09-2012 02:01 PM

I don't really see your point. It was a popular 80s TV show revived for a 2012 audience, just as cheesy, just as far fetched, just as silly as it ever was.

The only "hype" it got was adverts, like any other show gets, and old fans of the show being excited to see it back.

My Mum was an avid fan of the old series and really looked forward to the new one starting. She turned it over in disgust after half an hour and watched the Paralympics instead.

Can't get into the new Dallas, I wish I could as I love the old one, but the new series just holds no interest for me, and knowing Larry died halway into the new series makes it sad viewing anyway :( Think I will just treat myself to the complete series of 'Knots Landing' which I preferred to even Dallas.

Roy Mars III 08-02-2013 03:15 PM

The original series is my favourite show ever. The new one is okay, but the best part, like in the old series, was J.R. Without him, the show is nothing. :(
