Comedy is like fashion, the old comedians telling their mother in law jokes and Irish gags have been reborn for the modern audience...

names do hurt people, especially the weak the young the disabled and the impressionable...these verbal abuses can ultimately lead to suicide...the laws of discrimination seem to be tighter for racism and sexism than against the disabled... .frankie boyle makes millions doing this, yet we teach all our children its wrong to be mean cruel and bigotted....I have heard millions of sick comments from kids aimed at disabled people over the years...I have worked with disabled people, learning disabled, physically disabled etc and it clearly upsets and hurts these people and it must be stopped. its disgusting

mocking the afflicted is not funny...

Yeah, basically Boyle is a cowardly bully - he encourages those who think they are the "hip" to join his "gang" and spit on those that exist outside the "circle" - a technique honed to perfection by the dead Jade Goody, an equally repellent species of sub-human ..... :yuk:

It's just a joke so I don't get the problem, funny or not he should not be trialed for this when there's more serious crimes going on.

...it's nothing new for comedians to create a lightness to any situation..it's part of what comedy is all about..in one way or another it's been done over and over again through the decades.....

...it creates a balance to all the cr*p that constantly goes on in the world....

..some won't find it funny...but then some will..some will find it offensive and some won't.....personally, I don't think it's up to me to be offended on anyone else's behalf, any more than I would expect them to laugh at something I was amused at...everyone can decide for themselves....

..in Frankie Boyle's case, I neither find him funny or offensive...and I certainly don't find him a racist..he's just a fairly average stand up comedian....

..I remember watching one of Richard Pryors stand up routines once...a huge part of it was poking fun at white people and their 'funny little ways'..as a white person, I found it quite amusing....

I remember sitting two rows from him hin Oxford, I was just praying he'd not see me and leave me alone. The whole ginger thing would have provided him a lot of ammo! Thankfully he picked on the kid in front of me :laugh:

But yeah anyway, he has a very blunt humour which sometime crosses the line that other comedians would be afraid to cross or infact just be sensible not to cross, but I don't think he's a racist

Everyone's so 'right-on' and PC now... lighten up. If you don't like him, don't watch him. It's not like you don't know what you're going to get.

...the older comedians didn't just tell mother in law jokes though....Blackadder mocked dark periods in history...a lot of people were outraged at Monty Python...they dared to mock the Catholic Church with their Life of Brian...as if the Catholic faith wasn't humourous enough already....

Luckily there's nothing at all amusing about Jews so we don't get ridiculed much.

I meant older than the alternative comedians, boyle is worse in line with the old working mens club comics that targetted anyone in the audience who is different.
I don't buy his claim it was satirical, Sasha Baron Cohens trip to the deep south singing 'throw the jew down the well' THAT was satire.

..I remember 'The Comedians'..I don't think anything was ever out of bounds to those guys...they just weren't very funny either....
