Ok, maybe upon reflection, I'm not overly keen on strangers using terms of endearment with me

LOL..yeah you see..you're starting to get my point....

..I don't mind it when I know people..I don't even need to know them that well..but I'm not keen on it if it's a total stranger who I've never ever spoken to before....I would never use a familiar term with someone I didn't know...

A lady in the supermarket I go to always calls me this odd one,'sweet peach',I quite like it but never further engage as to why.
She only does it with me,no one else I am with when anyone is shopping there with me.

I don't mind when people I don't know use nice terms though.

Yeah, I don't really even use terms of endearments myself, except with Gav and the kids and my nephews

Think you're in there Joey

InOne 09-01-2013 02:47 PM

Depends, sometimes people use them in a patronising way.

..I call most of the children at school either sweetheart, darling or my love...but that's because I don't remember their names....

The patients i call love and mate tend to be over 60 as they seem to like it more than a youngish woman

mizzy25 09-01-2013 05:47 PM

not really although someone i used to work with used to call me and a mate pigeons and i hate pigeons lol

Doogle 09-01-2013 05:51 PM

I don't like it much. This guy I know calls everyone honey or babe or darling and it's awkward

Okay but what do you do exactly...?

zotler. 10-01-2013 02:33 PM

It does bother me, actually. I'd rather they didn't. :(

You still got them out though Lee. ;)

For me it depends on the context.

Kizzy 10-01-2013 02:43 PM

I don't mind it at all, I have a million other things to get stressed about haha!

LemonJam 10-01-2013 02:46 PM

I find it really patronizing/fake personally.

Kizzy 10-01-2013 02:54 PM

Can I call you peach too joey? haha! thats brilliant :joker:
Call my son 'lurch' as he is huuuuuge, and my daughter 'flossy' as her hair is big and fluffy :)

bbfan1991 10-01-2013 03:09 PM

Not really I consider it friendly, but understand how some people may take it the wrong way.
