It won't be like you remembered it. It'll never be the same as you remembered it. That's all i'll say.

I tried to come home once. I moved to California when i was 18, tried to move home to the East Coast when i was 21... it wasn't the same. I learned you can never go back.

It won't be the same.

but good luck with whatever you decide.

That might be your experience Alex, but it is not necessarily true for everyone, many people take gap years or go travelling for a few years and return home, and carry on with their lives. I think its a given some things will have changed as time or people do not stand still!

Hhmmm, I think I will try and stay here on a sponsorship, work are willing to offer me one, I found that out this morning. I can always go home on a holiday but if I stay it won't be until October time as return flights are very expensive atm.

For those of you wondering what I do I'm an Adventure Pioneer (which means I scope out new and existing activities/hikes/places to see etc. for backpackers and often get to try them) and I also do marketing (in which I go out and train agents how to sell products/packages/tours etc to backpackers and travel groups). I also get in the shop a couple times a week to do some sales (as I do well in the commission).

I actually love this job, but the idea of being home seems to swim around my head as if home is perfect (I know it's not).

I never said it was true for everyone.

Ben made this thread because he wanted our own opinions, so i gave him MY opinion. Sorry, should i have given him someone else's opinion? should i have taken a survey or something? he Asked for my opinion and i gave it to him, so what's the problem?

Why are YOU tryna make me feel like crap for telling him my own personal experience and MY opinion?

Do you have a problem with me CHERIE?

Cherie 13-02-2013 07:30 AM

:joker:settle down, and stop being so overly dramatic.

well i didn't see you picking out or ridiculing anyone else's opinions...

I'm not being dramatic, i was just responding to you being strangely confrontational.

Cherie 13-02-2013 07:39 AM

I did find sayng....I learned you can never go back..a touch over dramatic. Anyways apologies if you feel slighted it was not my intention.

no worries. Sorry if i took it the wrong way.

Back to Ben's dilemma now!

i gave my best advice (even if it was ridiculed and discounted) but anyways... hopefully someone will have better advice that Cherie will agree with :P

SharkAttack 13-02-2013 07:59 AM

Hell, Ben, if you like what you're doing, no reason to quit on it now. Perfectly reasonable "excuse" not to go home, besides special occasions. Not a bad way to go! :D

Who would choose to live in the UK? Go seek psychiatric help, is my advice.

Where do you live Joseline?

The UK isn't bad at all. The weather is ****e, but I sure can think of worse places to stay.
