Nah not really, why should anyone care what people think of them online, unless they actually desire to meet the person and form a proper relationship with them

Novo 27-02-2013 11:14 PM

Just think it's a bit pointless, what have you got to gain from giving yourself a new image online? Who knows.. maybe you'll actually meet people in the future that you speak to online and it's going to be a lot easier talking to them if you act the same way as you do Online

Trouble in paradise it seems

At the end of the day i can just log out of this forum and not come back, whilst you cant do that in real life.

Eh... That's a bit odd, yes I know 1000's of people do it but how exausting would it be to have to act all the time?
I'm a bit shocked at this revelation as you come across as quite genuine actually.

I don't mean i fake every bit of my persona, it's just exaggerated, as it can be on the internet, :). I play up to the self obsessed bit, since im nothing like that in real life, and once i got called on it on here, i just thought it would be quite humorous to go along with it  i kinda wanna get a razzie x. It was also in relation to the topic... whereas i can act confident on here, but i could never in real life :)

i agre wwith muchkins you can role play here and online and even play different characters and test different ideas, i think thats healthy and fun as long as it doesnt hurt anyone, which she would clearly never do. why do u think actors love playing different roles other than themselves? its fun

Brother Leon 27-02-2013 11:46 PM

Gotta some some roleplay to spice up life tbh.

Confidence is dynamic, and ebbs and flows as we achieve good things, or get battered by bad experiences. I've generally always been fairly confident. I've worked in proper sales environments, which isn't for shrinking violets, and now the most important part of what I do is presenting ideas and bids to directors and HR managers, and getting them to buy into me as a person, and my abilities. I don't win them all, and the losses hurt.

I'm also capable of some extremely deep lows, that none of my friends suffer with. When things get on top of me, it can take a while before I realise, and then before I can deal with it. I can manage to mask it enough to get me through the bare minimum required for life, and then retreat inside myself to try and cope at the earliest opportunity.

I find it frustrating that such nice people who've posted aren't confident yet they're genuinely lovely.

I wish I could give you some of mine.

trouble is the types of people who turn up drunk at every social event tend to be the bores of the century, so why would interesting people want to attend?

Maia 28-02-2013 12:47 AM

Not remotely socially :L Not really either looks wise either but I'm not too bothered there.

You're all good looking and have great personalities.

...for me SH, having confidence isn't about how you look..it's not about 'being attractive'..it's about 'feeling attractive'..not just in appearances but everything about you...and a lot of that is inside you from childhood really..from a lot of sources who have great influence on you as well..parents/peers etc...maybe some is genetic...but whatever the reasons, it's hard to change it, so as you get older and people might comment on your looks etc..say 'you're pretty/good looking/handsome' etc..maybe for a fleeting moment you may believe them...but inside your head and your mindset will always refuse to believe them..so what you 'look like' and what people see.. and who you yourself see in the mirror are two different things...sometimes the complete opposite....
