Would be nice for them to get a number one after all these years.

-remembers when 'One More Time' was robbed by that stupid bitch Leann Rimes 'Can't Fight The Moonlight' by a few hundred copies-

Groovy song. Hope it gets to #1!

Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky' has broken numerous Spotify records on its first day of release.

The duo's comeback, which features Pharrell Williams, has scored the greatest number of first-day global streams in Spotify's history.

'Get Lucky' is the first single to be lifted from their upcoming fourth studio album Random Access Memories. The LP is their first full studio album since 2005's Human After All.

The track also scored the most single day streams in Spotify's history in the US and UK.

In the US, Daft Punk broke the one-day streaming record previously set by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis's 'Thrift Shop'. In the UK, they beat the record set by Bastille's 'Pompeii'.

'Get Lucky' raced to the top of the UK iTunes charts after it was released yesterday morning (April 19).

It also beat the Spotify record in the US for the most first day streams for a song. That record was set by Justin Timberlake's 'Pusher Love Girl' earlier this year.

Will Hope, director of label relations at Spotify, said: "There was never any doubt that the first original single from Daft Punk in years was going to be one of the biggest debut singles of 2013.

"The robots have once again shown themselves to be true innovators, not only with their new musical direction and the stellar cast of collaborators they're working with, but also by undertaking one of the best album campaigns we've seen for some time.

"We expect the album to become one of the biggest, if not the biggest, on Spotify this year."

Pretty surprising really, it's been a good few years since their last outing so I was expecting their fans to have kinda moved on or got too old to keep up with new music  glad they've kept their appeal though.

Deep in the dark you'll surrender your heart

But you know but you know

that you can't fight the moonlight

Really catchy:).

Shaun 21-04-2013 07:32 PM

hope it manages to stay on top for a while and contend for next week's :(

Jords 21-04-2013 08:18 PM

Dont find it very interesting tbh

Mrluvaluva 21-04-2013 10:48 PM

Rudimental sold 107,000 copies to get to the number 1 spot this week. Daft Punk sold 50,000 copies in 48 hours. I think they could do quite well next week with radio airplay.

Shaun 21-04-2013 10:50 PM

:amazed: pretty good. Shall probably stick in the top five regardless.

Z 21-04-2013 10:50 PM

Yeah I see this going to #1 definitely

Shaun 21-04-2013 10:52 PM

When do charts close for the week btw? Is it midnight Saturday? (Just cause you said 48 hours and it was released midnight Thursday IIRC)

Mrluvaluva 21-04-2013 11:02 PM

The chart week runs from 00:01 Sunday to midnight Saturday. It was released @ 00.01 on Friday so had Friday and Saturday sales.

Love this, its so funky!

Glad it hasn't gone straight to number one, it would burn out quicker. It'll probably hang in the top 5 for weeks and creep up at some point (hopefully - not great when you get beaten to No 1 by Leann Rimes AND Rudimental) :amazed:

Jords 23-04-2013 05:25 PM

...I love it now

Shaun 23-04-2013 10:36 PM

still at #1 on iTunes, looking good for #1 on Sunday...

King Gizzard 23-04-2013 10:43 PM

i don't really get the hype
