I am currently not working and hoping to travel this summer. Thing is though, I've got mates who say they're all up for it at like 10pm in the pub but the day after the excuses come. So I'll probably just do it on my own. I'm a confident traveller anyway

And I avoid those "Brits abroad" type places :nono:

What do you currently do... and what are you planning to do... ? [if you don't mind me asking... and feel free to tell me to piss off and stop being nosey if you like lol].

I'm having trouble finding work. I can't get into administration, because I took so many years out to be home with the kids. I can't get into unskilled work because of my qualifications. Employers say I'm 'over qualified'.. which I think is bull. At the moment I'm volunteering in a charity shop so I can say that I have 'retail experience'. There's usually loads of retail jobs but they always want experience, so I figure this might be the way to go.

I could probably make more money in an office, but I'd need to go to college and essentially do the same stuff I've already done just so it's up to date. :/

I'd possibly get college paid for me at the moment, because my husband doesn't earn that much, so our family income would qualify us for fee waivers or whatever, but I don't know if that's the right road to take either.

i work in a factory. it's great most of the time. i really enjoy it.

lily. 22-04-2013 04:19 PM

I think the people you work with can make or break the job. You could have a brilliant job and work with a bunch of a-holes.. and it ruins it. One of my old jobs was a pretty routine job, but the people were amazing. I've never had another job like it, and probably never will.

Vanessa 22-04-2013 04:42 PM

That's true, but there are nice and horrible people everywhere. I tend to stick with the ones i get on with and avoid the rest.

Niall 22-04-2013 05:01 PM

Studying really. I need a job but I have loads of other crap to sort out before I can even contemplate that.

You have a way with words Lee.

Harry! 22-04-2013 06:45 PM

Studying, although I really would like a job. Depending on future events I might have to get a job.

Piss off and stop being nosey. Just kidding...

I'm a political agent right now, but it wasn't what I saw myself doing. I have a law degree so I'm going to take my bar qualification to be a barrister, which is what I wanted to do initially.

Maybe it's a perfect time for you to have a change of direction, and if you can do it without saddling yourself with tuition fees, even better. You know what they say... find a job you love and never work again. Hope you work it out and find a job or a course that's perfect for you.

Ninastar 22-04-2013 09:02 PM

i work in a nursery and i love it so much. i do however, sometimes struggle with all the ridiculous rules coming into place.

HD 22-04-2013 09:14 PM

Out of the work at the moment.

I'm having a 'confused' period at the moment, I have no idea what I want to do.

Sometime in the near future I'd like to be working abroad but I can't get cracking on with that without funds :(

joeysteele 22-04-2013 09:40 PM

Studying but almost finished now. On the last run in virtually now and it is really hard and heavy pressure.
Looking forward to at least 3 months of doing just about nothing but planning my future over the Summer and Autumn.

King Gizzard 22-04-2013 09:41 PM

I am a lawyer

Jamie585 22-04-2013 09:43 PM

I think I've left it too late to apply for September start at college, but I might be able to get in for a January start if I can decide what the hell I'm doing. I feel quite under-educated now that I know you have a law degree.. fancy stuff.. ;)

I'm only at HND level with my old Business Administration stuff, and it's from 1992 so it's well and truly out of date.

But I can't see myself doing the same thing over again, so if I do go to college I think it'll have to be something completely new.

I'd really like to work with animals, but most of the college courses require you to be working in an animal care setting while studying so that's out..

How long will you have to be back studying to get where you want to be?

InOne 22-04-2013 10:22 PM

When Livia is 'studying' she will be meeting up with me. So not sure how much studying she will end up doing. But I'm pretty confident she's intelligent enough to wing it. She will be fine.

Why did I type that? Nobody knows. And you know what Joe? Nobody cares :idc:

Beastie 22-04-2013 11:25 PM

Working but going travelling for a month soon. Happy work gave me the month off. But when I come back from my mini travel adventure I am looking for a change in direction for a new/2nd job.

Redway 22-04-2013 11:28 PM

Studying.

Marsh. 23-04-2013 12:10 AM

Studying but really regretting it. Got one more year left so I'll see it through but I seriously don't feel as though I've learnt anything.

lostalex 23-04-2013 01:35 AM

I don't have a situation. I am the situation. compronde? :bored:
