The same could be said for anyone. Compared to starving children in Africa, we are rich beyond our wildest dreams. But does that mean we have a perfect life? No.

My point was money does not equate to happiness. That suggests happiness depends on material things, it doesn't.

Just because she lives in a multi million pound home does not mean she is immune to tough times. If your life is in the sh*t, no nice house your sat in is going to make it better.

Me. I Am Salman 11-06-2013 07:15 PM

His point is wrong anyway because this news means she'll have to move out of her mansion

Vicky. 11-06-2013 07:17 PM

Yeah..the..others are worse off than you argument is stupid IMO

There is always someone worse off than you, no matter what your situation really. Does this mean noone should ever moan about anything?

If you consider Tulisa's urban roots that she keep banging on about then I think Withano makes a good point. I recall one of NDubz once said that if Tulsa wasnt in the band then she'd be up the duff living on some council estate. Do you think she'd be happier if that had been her career path?

Maybe..it must get annoying having people following you around all the time dying to see you screw up so they can run a story on you. And she may want a family (the council estate bit, noone really wants as such, but it doesnt mean your life is bad)

I find it hard to have sympathy for celebs..but I do wonder sometimes how I would handle it..and I dont know if the cash that comes with the job would be worth it really :/

Apple202 11-06-2013 07:22 PM

So because Tulisa managed to earn herself a mansion she shouldn't be able to complain about constant humiliation and harassment from what seems like every direction?

her > you

If she's not happy with people following her waiting for her to ****** up then she should retire from the business and start afresh. She's high profile enough to do it. Unlike council estate Tulisa, 6million pound mansion Tulisa has options. Money may not make people happy but having options does.

Yes I do agree with this actually.

Think shes likely to totally flop soon anyway, so no need to retire :p

Hilarious.

Not my point.

With most people "it could be worse", but it could be better too.

This has spiralled into a bit of a debate I'm really not interested in. I was just pointing out the general attitude that people with money can't have problems too. Money isn't everything.

I'm just sick of hearing about how unhappy filthy rich people are. If they dont like their lives then they actually have the capacity to change it. Not everyone has that so I 'm unlikely to be sympathetic to them.

Maybe in Tulisa's case but I don't really want to comment on it since the paper's are making out she's all distraught when for all we know she's having a house party. :joker:

But like I said happiness isn't always linked to money. Money can't change everything. If you're alone, then you're alone. You could maybe buy yourself a Thai bride but that's not ideal.

I agree with you 08marsh; it's the same attitude people have towards mental health - "what have you got to be depressed about?" You can't live your life playing down your personal problems because someone else out there has it worse off than you; being rich doesn't grant you a lifetime of happiness - you might have the means to buy yourself nicer things to cheer yourself up but buying yourself a fancy car or buying yourself a bar of chocolate when you're feeling depressed are both short term distractions that do not deal with the very real problems you have. Yes, Tulisa has a lot of money, but she's clearly also not a very sensible girl - why on earth is she renting property when she's been earning so much money? Why did she fall for The Sun's sting? Why did she believe these lies? It seems that people have it out for her in the media, I'd imagine she must have done something to piss a lot of powerful people off, but I can't imagine that would be a lot of fun. She is a front page story in a bad way, she's in trouble with the police at the moment, her media career is presumably on the verge of being over and her music career has become a laughing stock too. Sure, none of those problems are: having terminal cancer, being in a famine, not having fresh water, losing a loved one, losing all your belongings in a house fire etc etc etc... but they're also not: the birth of your first child, winning the lottery, your wedding day, winning an award, getting your first job... Famous people, of course, have a much better standard of life than most of us will ever have, but that doesn't suddenly mean they're not allowed to have feelings...

Marsh. 12-06-2013 01:17 AM

Exactly Zee. Much more articulately explained.

Good comparison with the attitude towards mental health, depression can affect anyone and you can't just "cheer up".

GypsyGoth 12-06-2013 01:20 AM

Maybe it was a genuine offer, but once they heard about the news paper sting, they backed out and claimed it was a hoax

I'd hate it, I'd like the money but I couldn't handle people following me around and taking my photo all the time. If I had the choice to be famous and have money or to stay how I am, I reckon I'd stay how I am. I honestly believe I wouldn't be able to handle it, I'd hate it

Not every celeb has paps camped in their garden. The smart one actually control the number of images of themselves that are distributed.

This is one of the reasons why I'm not sympathetic. Many celebs act like their lives are hell and the intrusion is unbearable. Its not. When the Beckhams were in this country Victoria used to control the number of images that were circulated every week. Thus, almost all of the pictures of her that were taken, before Becks went to Spain, were taken by the same bloke. She used to contact his agency and tell him where she was gonna be and he'd provide the weekly pictures of Posh for Heat mag. And the rest of the paps more or less left her alone. Celebs want you to feel sorry for them. Their lives are no where near as bad as they claim and the intrusion is usually down to their own actions.

I'd love being a celeb. I'd control the images so that the intrusion was minimal. I'd relish being papped in the street. I don't see what they have to complain about all the time.

'A rich person thought she had an opportunity to be richer, she was wrong and now shes depressed that she has to carry on being as rich as she ever was' is how I read the story.

If thats all she has to be sad about then she ought to grow some balls.

If a rich person was sad about something personal like the things Zee mentioned, that would be fine. At the end of it all this rich person is sad about not being richer and she needs to stop being a ****.

:worship: Nicely put.

These celebs want more but when they don't get more they cry 'I'm depressed cuz I can only buy 10 diamonds instead of 20' and many people feel sorry for them. Its wrong.

Celebs are among the most cynical people in the world. They want sympathy from the public and know how to get it.
