My English Class has to do presentations on something you're passionate about, and mine is going to be on Big Brother. I'm doing it tomorrow, and I've got my speech ready and everything. I'll make sure to spend a bit of time talking about BB14, showing the house pics and mentioning that it starts tonight ;)

I'm sure most people we know don't have Nielsen boxes so it won't make any difference whatsoever

Whether you watch or don't watch a programme, it only affects official ratings if you have a special kind of box which records your viewing habits
|
I talk about it non stop in school so people know it's back, people have been asking me when it's back too.
I've shared the eye logo loads of times with the start date and time too, as well as Twitter |

Theres only about 5000 home with barb boxes so how do you come to the conclusion that's all they take into consideration? |
They survey people I think, and I'm guessing there's a formula which lets them generalise.

Uh, yes they use neilsen boxes which are placed around the country and come up with an estimate overall audience figure. It's never 100% accurate but that's what they do.
But this type of thing is so outdated now, with the inclusion of +1 channels, iPlayers and other ways of watching shows. |

I was saying that's not all they base the viewership on. |
so, if 1 million people watch a Big Brother episode, but none of the 5000 households watch it, then how do they recorded the ratings as there was still 1million people watching it? :conf:

Would it just be straight up illegal to have a thing in your tv connection that tells your provider what your watching?
I know, I know privacy issues. Full circle though with this being a "Big Brother" forum. |
