Thanks really more safe in a car then a plane WOW Don't feel that scared any more

There are something like 50,000 planes take off every day worldwide, and if you compare that to the number if crashes there are, I reckon it's a fairly safe way to travel :)

Relax and try to enjoy it

Yeah exactly! ..and the cabin crew... I'm assuming the emergency evacuation happened very quickly before the fire really took hold.

Smithy 06-07-2013 11:03 PM

I don't get how Asiana airways is the right way up while the plane is upside down

Lee. 06-07-2013 11:08 PM

It's not upside down :conf:

GypsyGoth 06-07-2013 11:17 PM

I'm just watching a news article about it now :(

Sounds like the staff did an amazing job keeping the majority of the passengers safe.

Lee. 06-07-2013 11:23 PM

I'm surprised at that photo of the passengers leaving the plane.. They seem to have brought luggage etc with them? If I was in an emergency situation like that I'd be first down the chute without giving my bag a second thought!

Drew. 07-07-2013 12:18 AM

60 people unaccounted for, bit worrying..

Yeah, just **** yourself if he makes the announcements in person.

I don't trust machines to fly solo.

There were 307 on board, including 16 crew. Officials said 123 escaped without injury and 181 were hospitalized or treated for injuries. Among the injured, 49 are in serious condition and five at San Francisco General Hospital remain critical. Among the 47 others at San Francisco General, several were treated for minor injuries, including fractures and abrasions, and were released Saturday night.

"It was all over in 10 seconds," says Vedpa Singh, who suffered a fractured collarbone. "We heard a big bang, and it was over."

You'd better hope Dave doesn't take the same approach.

If they were all flights from South Korea to San Francisco thats about 4 flights! its not much experience is it.

There is an audio of the air traffic control radio coms on liveleak i cant make much of it but to me it sounds like everyone thought they were at 3100ft but i dont know its all very confusing.
