I'm quite astonished that a country like Ireland hasn't had abortion legalised. I mean they're quite modern in other respects really.

The abortion debate is just ridiculous anyhow. If a woman doesn't want her kid, then that's her decision. Let her be the master of her own body. Why should this have to be everyone else's business?

This bill is ridiculous,it still leaves Irish women who have an abortion facing fourteen years in prison. If the woman was raped and choose abortion she would also be a criminal.

It is important to remember that some Irish women welcome their pregnancies and are delighted at the prospect of of being a mother but tragically life is not viable for fetus outside the womb.Conditions ATM demand that she will carry full term despite receiving this news at around the 12 week mark.
I have heard so many heartbroken women who have been giving this awful news and advised a termination by their Gp having to leave Ireland to travel to the UK leaving their support network behind.

Again, I blame the politicians and their incapability to get anything done. That legislation debate they had last night sounded like an absolute joke and it seems they got nothing done there either. I can't understand why they don't just hold a referendum for full abortion, it's surely about time for that now instead of trying to legislate for a case that happened 20 years ago and doesn't even cover the type of case you gave as an example.

It's ridiculous and I feel sorry for Irish women that are not allowed to choose what they want to do with their own bodies.
