I think I would've just got on with everything and moved on after he spoke to everyone about it. Though I guess Sophie just wanted to voice her opinion so it was made clear how she felt. People sometimes take things in a different way to others, which I respect but I really don't think Dan should've had any stick after doing wht he was asked to by another housemate.

I must say its been really interesting reading what you guys think - thank you!! :)

I hope not, anyway, as he was a police officer. And police officer who viewed that footage and thought "Oh yeah, the slut provoked him, she was just asking for something like this to happen" should not be in the job.

She also told Dan in the treehouse the first day that she slapped Daley and pulled down his boxers, and that she got a warning. Your bias is giving you a selective memory.

Why does she need to reveal all of this? Why does she have to offer up details of something unsettling that happened to her for the other housemates to "review"? Why is everyone so desperate to justify Daley's actions?

I don't know how many times I've said this now but the story has been SO twisted by many people, and NOT by Hazel.

Daley didn't mean to scare her, but he did, accidentally.

Big Brother asked her if she had been scared, and she told the truth and said "yeah, a little bit"

Hazel even said at the time that he probably didn't mean to and it was just play fighting gone too far.

She said the same to Dan.

She has never vilified Daley.

UP UNTIL THIS POINT there was no real blame... Daley made a mistake, that is all. He thought she knew it was a game and was OK. She wasn't. All he needed to do was say "yes I made a mistake, I'm sorry that I scared Hazel". Done, dusted, not a huge deal!

Since then, Hazel still hasn't blamed or vilified Daley. She's even said he didn't deserve to be kicked out.

Daley on the other hand... has been an absolute snivelling guilt-avoiding weasle about the whole thing. "Boo hoo boo hoo she used magic spells on me and made my out of control penis cheat on my girlfriend without me having any way to stop it, and then she brewed up a potion in her cauldron and made me play a too-rough sex game with her in a conspiracy to kick me out!". **** off Daley. Utterly, utterly pathetic.

And yet Hazel still gets the bulk of the blame?? What is WRONG with most people??? It's disgusting. It's actually making me really angry. Thousands of women in these situations are now going to be more scared to tell anyone because hey, Hazel brought it on herself, so why not them? It's an absolute disgrace, and BB / the press giving Daley airtime in order to blame the girl is infuriating. That so many people are buying into it is also completely awful.

So... yeah. If Dan is an idiot he'll feel used. If he's any sort of half decent person, he'll find the footage of the incident even more disturbing than he imagined, and still want to protect his friend from the inevitable negative press she's going to face.

At ease, Soldier. My post did not vindicate Daley. All my posts thus far acknowledge he was an idiot, but Daley putting his hands around Hazel's neck has not made me forget my long-held belief that she is a sneaky, devious, cold-hearted fame-hungry cow. She has used men throughout her BB stay, and I do not believe this has stopped. She has assessed the situation and I am sure will try to play it to come out on top. Her tool for the moment: Dan. I am not advocating abuse, think his attempt to ingratiate himself to the public via Katie is ridiculous, and have no interest in his life after Big Brother.

Dan loves to take charge. and over powers the rest. he jumps strait away. like as if he's in charge. it all works for others not to nominate him. remember how he acted when he was up. the whole truth hasn't been told. she did a lot more. but no excuse for Dailey's behaviour

To be fair, this applies to all of them except Sam and Sophie who have been unilaterally branded as "boring". And debatably Charlie.

In people's admirable desire to condemn violence, there has been a mad rush to jump on any criticism of Hazel. Hazel has had a bad time of it, but it remains to be seen if she'll become a better person, she's not come across well all series and nothing's changed, yet. Dan was so desperate to own the situation last night that I thought at one point he might lock Hazel in the loo in case she interrupted him. For whatever reason, most of the housemates liked Daley and disliked Hazel, so their confusion was hardly likely to have been extinguished by Dan's speech. Hazel would have done better to have told the housemates exactly what Daley did, even if she didn't want to share all of the back story.

It will all come out sooner or later and there ought to be some anger and also some red faces at how easily they have been hoodwinked.

After reading this post, I have to say that your sig is the second best thing on this thread, because hands down, the above is about the best summary of the whole hazel/daley situation that Ive come across to date.

Well said.

Yes, they are going to feel really bad that hazel didnt tell them the whole truth, so they could understand fully what an ordeal she had. And how well she dealt with it.

Fame hungry? A BB housemate? Never!

Used men? Like dan, that she has been friends with since day one and daley who pursued her like a dog in heat....

Good call!
