Getting a tan is not the same as adopting full characteristics, with the blonde hair and blue eyes.

Let's at least compare hypothetically based on a similar situation...

Say you have a white girl, with naturally straight blonde hair and blue eyes. This girl spends hours every day putting on dark foundation (does that even exist?), putting in black contact lenses, and then throws on a black afro wig. She also adopts an accent that's right out of Nairobi.

Wouldn't you question the reason she's doing this and wonder what her conviction is for trying to alter her natural appearance so much?

If a girl did do that she would be mocked everywhere she went...
