Sounds more like pure snobbery to me.
Happens to ordinary people as well.

I suggested simply that the assistant didn't recognise her, and that not everyone does have the faces of all rich and famous people emblazoned in their memory.

Would I feel it is right or fair to be labelled a racist for not recognising Oprah, no.

You said you wouldn't recognise the Queen in slippers so I thought you were saying that important people need to look important etc.

No I'm saying I've never met her in the flesh so might be forgiven for not recognising her without her finery and phil....

This.

Disgusting that these snobs make judgements on people's wealth, but nothing here suggests racism. It could have been a racist incident, just like it could have been pure snobbery that they thought she was a poor old lady.

..so she was a complete snob then..?..'she tried to show her the same style in different qualities'..and she 'wasn't sure if it was Oprah or someone else'...but she was meant to be one of the best at her job and dealt with the better customers..?..she couldn't recognise Oprah though...

Enjoyed that vid. I agree... if someone wearing an Arab costume went into that store is pretty certain they would have been shown the bag.
