At least he's coming back to Corrie, which is good. :)

A shame his career is stunted now, same thing happened to Matthew Kelly. You just cant recover from those sort of charges :/ Hopefully he'll sue the papers, that's what I'd be doing.

I think in cases such like this that the persons accused should also have a right to anonymity until proven guilty. They can also end up being the victims. There were arrests last week apparently when the girls name was posted on Facebook. If the media report on such things, and name the person involved, then I think they should face consequences too.

Right verdict IMO. I had a gut feeling he was not guilty, hopefully now he will be allowed to move on but there will always be a character stain on him sadly from this even when he has been cleared by the law...

The law is an absolute ass....The false accusers should stand trial against the state accused of perjury. Lets see if they can defend themselves. Any woman can accuse any successful man of all sorts of heinous things under the cloak of anonymity , she can then try and make millions. if all fails so what, shes still unnamed hes destroyed, she can try again in a few years too. imagine how awful it must be to be a half famous or successful man in this country now? Its a miracle they ever leave the house at all. any woman at any moment can make up a pack of lies to destroy their entire lives at any second of the day. the law is biased in favour of women here and must be changed to be equal and fair.

A copper pulls up alongside a 13 year old girl spewing and spitting in Coronation Street.
"Have you been drinking young lady?" he asks.
"Yes, I've just had a pint of Webster's!"

I'm glad to see CPS is getting **** for this celeb manhunt. It's also good to see proper debate about the accused's identity being kept secret.

In defence of the CPS, they had to decide whether they thought there was a case to answer, and they thought that there was.

I agree that it's good to see a proper debate on the accused's right to anonomity, I'd also like to see the accuser named now that a not guilty verdict has been passed. Women who make allegations like this disrepect every women who's ever been through the horror of rape, and the horror of the resulting court case.

Speaking of historical sex abuse cases in general (not this specific case), in some cases, the crime may have indeed been committed, but denied by the accused, and lack of evidence, plus a plea of not guilty, may result in them being found not guilty and all charges dropped. If it became practice to reveal the name of the accuser in such instances, do you not think this could have a detrimental effect towards people coming forward in some cases? Some victims fear they will not be believed, but the further fear of reprisal, if a conviction does not happen, would surely be a deterrent to some?

It's a hard line between those who genuinely have been abused, and it cannot be proved, and those that go out to ruin someone's reputation and life for possible damages.

However, if it was proven that someone had made up such an abhorrent lie for their own personal gain, then I agree with you that the information of what they had done should be made public and their personal details revealed.
