I just watched the whole documentary on LoveFilm. My God!! I am still sort of in shock. Her family are crooks and spivs... Dad burnt down the family business for the insurance money. They routinely award themselves diplomas, based at the 'college' which is their home. The scene of Lauren doing dramatology with a girl in her 'office' was frightening ... Lauren actually lost her temper and it was the girl who was supposed to be doing the therapy. Neither of her parents were with her for her operation yet she worships the ground her mother walks on.
And what comes over loud and clear even from when Lauren was a little boy right up to when this documentary was made is that we, the 'general public' are plebs, not 'ladies and gentlemen' and certainly not as 'superior' as the Harries family. I can see why they are treated with such hostility. Deluded and criminal.
The programme ended with the insight that their need to be on TV is equated to the need for sex. This could account for Lauren's desperation to get on the show. I am now so uncomfortable with this. And of course her mother is always there in the background.
