Arista he really isn't. If Labour were able to close the government down over a passed law in this country, so that parks weren't open, council workers were stopped working etc, what would your opinion be? Would you be moaning about Cameron. Of course you wouldn't.

This is absolutely nothing to do with the president, and the polls are reallt turning agains the republicans.

I don't mind talking to you about this, but at some point you either need to explain your ideas better, or accept that what the crazies on the right are doing is unacceptable and nuts.

Stop watching Fox, and start watching Chris Hayes.

That's quite possibly the maddest thing I've ever seen written about it. How about the 10's of millions of Americans that won't have to face bankruptcy because they broke a leg and were charged thousands of dollars to fix it? How about that greater good?

How about the children with cancer that would have been previously refused treatment for having a pre-existing condition? Is that the greater good?

Someone needs to stand up to the loonies on the right in America, and I hopee Obama stands firm.

Many Big Shops have got rid of some staff

So here we have what is called in politics, "Bleeding stumps"

America, for the greater good of the world economy can not afford it.

If these people can not afford healthcare otherwise, then that is just too bad, and the expressions that come to mind are "Tough!" and "Awe diddums" and "You can not make an omelette without breaking a few eggs". They will just have to go without, if they can not afford it, end of.

Repeat, America can not afford Obamacare, because the Tea Party, who are in charge, will not allow it, to their dying breath, and they do not give a fig for the consequences of their actions to defeat it.

So if for the greater good it means denying a dying child medical treatment that would have saved it, so be it. There is more at stake, Obama should have known this. He should scrap Obamacare now and he along with his Vice president must resign in favour of the republican speaker of house of representatives.

Do we want to see a world financial crisis, thousands made destitute and science projects destroyed by one man's stubborn failure to recognise he has lost?

That's not true though, Arista. I'll give you a solid, factual example. Disney promoted nearly 600 people up to full time, so that they would qualify for the ACA.

You get big republican donors as CEO's of corporations trying to scaremonger people into being scared of the ACA, so they can kill it. When people are settled into it, and like it, the GOP knows it will be impossible to take it away from them. That is another piece of legislation passed by democrats that will reflect poorly on the GOP.

I know you're a man of science, so I'm going to assume that's decent satire, rather than a batsh*t crazy opinion.

I hate the government, i'm glad someone finally shut those bitches down. serves 'em right.

Who needs a government? not America.

They've been closed for 11 days now, and i don't even notice a difference!

Thursday is the magic day

[In a series of attacks encouraged by the
Obama administration, policymakers
gathered in the US capital for the annual
meeting of the International Monetary
Fund used the platform to call for an
agreement before Thursday's deadline
to raise America's
$16.7 trillion (£10.5tn) debt ceiling.
Mario Draghi, the president of the
European Central Bank, said:
"It is unthinkable that an agreement won't be found.
If this situation were to last a long time
this would be negative, very negative
for the US economy and the world
economy and could certainly harm the recovery."]

The IMF is impervious to government opinion, they are only swayed by evidence, so firstly, Obama has not been encouraging attacks, and secondly, it still wouldn't matter if he had.

Let's hope Obama doesn't fold to the Republicans, if he does they'll throw their toys out of the pram every time something they don't like gets written into Law. Treat them like the spoiled children they are.
