Feel The Force

It's got nothing to do with "the left wing". These are individuals offering opinions on another individual, and "communist green MP" is fox news-esque in it's stupidity.

The British Isles are a group of islands off the north-western coast of continental Europe that include the islands of Great Britain, Ireland and over six thousand smaller isles.[7] Two sovereign states are located on the islands: Ireland (additionally described as the Republic of Ireland, covering five-sixths of the island of the same name)[8] and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (commonly known as the United Kingdom). The British Isles also include three dependencies of the British Crown: the Isle of Man and, by tradition, the Bailiwick of Jersey and the Bailiwick of Guernsey in the Channel Islands, although the latter are not physically a part of the archipelago.[9][10]

Irish people are not British.

So every time a female singer makes a comment they're going to be accused by some of trying to get publicity to kick start their career or similar? God forbid they might have something to say from experience. That's a rather shallow view on matters to be honest.

Marsh. 15-10-2013 01:36 PM

Juvenile, exactly what it is.

In the desperate attempt to shed the Disney child star image, Miley's coming across more childish with her immature attitude to what an adult is.

Not to mention she completely misjudges what is sexy and what is revolting.

Yes apparently so, women can't comment on other women because they are jealous end of.

Its interesting that all those that have commented are women who have been in the music industry so maybe they know what they are talking about.:eureka:

Charlotte wasn't lecturing her.

If Miley sticks her ugly arse out there for the world to see, then the world has a right to say it smells.

Charlotte was offering her own experience of the music industry which Miley is now in the thick of. In that context her comment is very valid.

It's more likely lazy journalism asking these people about the hot new topic, but even still I'm bored of reading about people offering advice to her or whatever. Pick up the phone if you're "concerned".

Yeah but Charlotte Church just offered her opinion about the nature of the music industry using Miley Cyrus as an example that echoes her own experiences when giving a speech; she wasn't really directly criticising nor offering advice to Miley, nor did she do it to get her name back in the papers; this is just the press filling pages and fans of Miley Cyrus throwing the terms "has been" or "jealous" around instead of reading what was actually written.

She's not jealous of Miley, nor is she even offering an opinion about what Miley's doing, she's saying that the music industry wants to keep women childlike and then suddenly really raunchy, and that it's double standards and perverse.

Yes? It doesn't make what she says any less valid, regardless of her reasons for voicing her opinions. You wouldn't publicly slag off your boss if you were still working for him because you're not an idiot, but when you're no longer part of that company you can say whatever you want without fear of reprisals. Charlotte Church was in the music industry from a young age, she's got far more in common with Miley Cyrus than Sinead O'Connor or Annie Lennox - Charlotte was chewed up and spat out by the system and I'm sure Miley will be too. It might be next year, it might be when she's in her 30s, but that day will come, because the music industry is ageist, sexist and if you build your career on your looks and not your talent, you will watch it all crumble around you when your looks fade.

Exactly. That's the mentality of some. It's like the whole Justin Bieber/Michael Woods episode that happened last week when Justin took a cheap shot at Michael's manager. Woods' twitter account received a barrage of abuse from Justin's fans after he posted about the incident. It didn't matter if JB was in the wrong, Woods was just seen as someone attacking their idol and they didn't like it. Objectivity and rationality played no part.

It doesn't matter how much money she makes, she's addicted to attention and fame; and because she's building up her career based on her appearance rather than her actual talent (and she is a talented girl), she's going to be dropped and left with a huge void in her life that attention and fame once filled. We've seen it countless times before, I don't know why anyone's refuting that this is at least possible, if not highly probable.
