You put forward a lot of really logical theories Alex, I'd never really thought about aliens in that way before, I suppose because our entertainment industry likes to characterise aliens as savages or being exactly like humans but with a different, but similar, appearance. I think if there were aliens visiting the planet and the governments of the world knew about it, it would be covered up to keep the planet calm.

lostalex 18-10-2013 04:24 PM

This was a very interesting case. 62 school children in Zimbabwe witnessed a landed craft and it's pilots. make sure to watch til the end of the video, they interview the same children as adults over a decade later. They all stick by the same story.

lostalex 18-10-2013 04:45 PM

This is a similar case, of a mass sighting by school children, but this one in Australia. again, all of the children stick by their story, even as adults, many decades later.

Yes and use their tech gear on you

You heard it here first, folks.

That's quite the confession, Arista. It's not your fault. It's not your fault.

I'm firmly on your side on this topic Alex, I've studied this subject for years and I think there are vast amounts of evidence to support the ET Hypothesis.

But until they land on the lawns of the White House I doubt it will ever become a reality..!!!

If aliens do visit earth/abduct people it's clearly not happening on a big enough scale to panic about.

Kyle 18-10-2013 06:02 PM

Didn't one of the guys who went to the moon say that aliens had a spaceport on the dark side of the moon and that they were 'warned' off it?

Personally though in my opinion I believe that if there were extra terrestrial species within traversable distance to earth they would probably have a colonial attitude towards us and we'd be in big trouble.

Unless it's like Mass Effect where they invite us to participate in a galaxy-wide galactic government

Hi Alex, nice to meet you too.

I think it's safe to say that there are countless planets in this galaxy alone that are host to life as intelligent / more intelligent (and more advanced) than we are... however, I personally don't believe that aliens have or ever will visit Earth (nor will humans visit worlds with intelligent alien life), because I strongly suspect that FTL (faster than light) travel is physically impossible. So all of these intelligent lifeforms will be confined to their own little corners of the galaxy, never having contact with any of the others... well, except those who are lucky (or unlucky I guess?) enough to have an alien neighbour "next door", within the same solar system or in the systems of the closest stars that would be possible to reach fairly easily at sub-light speeds.

Anyway... HYPOTHETICALLY they would probably be better to keep it from most people. Most people don't even like to face the uncomfortable truths of the world as it is outside their own little bubble (family, work, friends). Most people don't even "want to know" when it comes to domestic politics... certainly not global concerns... so, they definitely would prefer to stick their heads in the sand when it comes to extraterrestrial matters.

Then again, considering that, they might as well make the information easily "findable". THen those who want to know will know, and those who don't want to know will go on in ignorant bliss / pretending that it isn't happening... as they do with anything else that doesn't "fit" in their comfortable mindset.

exactly. some religious people can't even handle the truth about evolution. imagine if we found out that aliens had manipulated our genetics and our evolution? they would lose their minds. they would probably think that they are demons or satan or the anti-christ or whatever. they would go insane.

Kyle 18-10-2013 08:04 PM

The question we really need to ask ourselves is if they did come, what exactly are we going to teach them? Great ways for them to kill each other? They are probably best off staying away to be honest.

I never have to ask.

I admire your passion on this subject. I would consider myself in the Fox Mulder "I want to believe" camp. Would totally like to get into this more when I am not typing on a godamn Xbox remote.

I don't think they would, "faith" and (to be blunt) habitual selective blindness are built into religion from the ground up. If they hadn't seen it with their own eyes (actual aliens and ships) they would claim that it was a lie / hoax / it didn't happen / false evidence was planted by God for unknown reasons (I have heard 7-day hardcore Christians claim that Dinosaurs were around a few thousand years ago, and that God deliberately made it SEEM like fossils are older, for... some reason??).

If it was indisputable that they were really here, their ships were in the sky, and they were talking to people then they would go for the second fallback: that God also made the aliens and that any meddling they did with our DNA / hand they had in the creation of humanity was part of a plan set in motion by God, so really, everything is the same. You'll see this in the "Scientific Christians" who do believe in evolution and that the Earth formed over billions of years. They simply "reinterpret" (read: alter) the meaning of religious texts to suit, so all of a sudden the 7 days of creation are a metaphor, evolution did happen but it's all part of a design set in motion by God, etc. etc.

They'd find a way to warp the facts to make them fit, basically. They always do. You'd probably have a cult or two springing up claiming that Jesus was in fact an alien sent by God to get us back on track.

In the last 100 years cults like Scientology have already started using the universe that we have been learning about as a basis for their crack pot delusions. It's probably likely that as new 'churches' spring up they will attempt to incorporate our new found knowledge of the universe and claim anything derived from it was at the hand of their chosen deity/overseer.

There are more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on earth. Each star has the potential to house orbiting planets and even if just a minute percentage of those planets are within the bounds of the habitable zone then There is every chance that life outside of the solar system exists.
