I guess it depends what you want in a pop act. Not that it comes up particularly often, but if I were asked to compare them, I wouldn't, because the only thing they really have in common is that they're both pop groups consisting of women.
Girls Aloud have amazing visuals, are glamorous, attractive, have fun songs and generally have the better discography if you want to put on a party playlist.
Sugababes (and their continuation in the form of MKS) at their peak were effortlessly cool, had amazing harmonies, meaningful song lyrics, could switch between styles and were always going to have the longer careers because they're singer-songwriters, not celebrities standing behind microphones. They've maintained careers without becoming a tabloid band. |
