I 100% agree, Gary was in my view really patronising, also if Sam Callahan can play the guitar,( and Luke has been playing his and also Abi playing the piano), then why shouldn't be allowed to play it.
This is what I don't get with X Factor, they say it has to be more than just a voice, that you have to have other things rather than just be able to sing.
He can sing, okay he hasn't,on his own admission, the strongest voice but he is in tune and he has personality,is likeable and has a really good attitude even in the face of the most unfair and harsh criticism from Gary, whose own solo career didn't exactly go great.
Being able to play his guitar would actually maybe also show another side of his versatility and may even add confidence to his voice as it certainly does Luke's too.
Luke is really at home and in his element with his guitar.
Sadly, more and more, X Factor by its daft themes and the song lists they have to choose from, actually even more now stifles any talent an act has rather than enhance it and bring it out week after week.
