On C4 it's hardly surprising; they want to pretend that it "ended" on their channel after Ultimate BB. It is a bit of an embarrassment for them. The format has so much potential, but they never end up with anyone decent past the second round?? Look at the two winners. Jesus effing christ. They make Sam Bailey look half decent.

The entire talent show format is becoming dated world-wide... it's just not fresh any more. The US versions aren't as strong as they once were, either.

Ratings in general are down across the board, also, as young people especially are in a phase of completely altering their viewing habits; lots of DVR, on-demand, and online viewing and far less watching live TV. Plus a huge increase in casual (especially smartphone) gaming. So even in figures where these are included, it's down. This is because casual viewers used to just watch "whatever's on telly" even if they weren't particularly interested in it, whereas now, if there's nothing on that people want to see, they'll just stick on something that's been recorded, go online, or play a game.
