They axed it with woeful ratings of < 1 million viewers and they expected it to flop on Channel 5, but its ratings more than doubled from that low (though obviously nowhere near it's peak) AND - crucially - C4's ratings for the time slot last summer were worse than ever (i.e. they would have made more money for the time slot, every night of the week for three solid months, if they had kept and promoted BB). That they don't want it mentioned is to be expected, really.

The Voice... bleh. I'll give it ONE more go this year (because Jessie J is gone and, as bad as the show has been, she was the worst of it) but if it's not much better in the first few weeks I'll be tuning out (or, rather, removing the series link... no one tunes into stuff any more do they?)

The format has so much potential, but they never end up with anyone decent past the second round?? Look at the two winners. Jesus effing christ. They make Sam Bailey look half decent.

Really hope cbb crushes c4 in the ratings next week and during the summer :)

Do you mean BB ended with only 1 million viewers on Channel 4?

X factor also in decline but even thats getting better ratings than the voice even through this series was one of the lowest rated ever with 8-9m

The entire talent show format is becoming dated world-wide... it's just not fresh any more. The US versions aren't as strong as they once were, either.

Ratings in general are down across the board, also, as young people especially are in a phase of completely altering their viewing habits; lots of DVR, on-demand, and online viewing and far less watching live TV. Plus a huge increase in casual (especially smartphone) gaming. So even in figures where these are included, it's down. This is because casual viewers used to just watch "whatever's on telly" even if they weren't particularly interested in it, whereas now, if there's nothing on that people want to see, they'll just stick on something that's been recorded, go online, or play a game.

because no one wants to hear about a show that should have been canceled years ago

I fully believe if talent shows went off air for around 5 years and then came bck they would be strong again we just need 1 talent show a year through:)

It gets more viewers than Alan Carrs show which usually only just hits about 1 million viewers.

Summer BB alone doubles that rating on some nights.

Obviously BB has more interest.

Winter CBB episodes average 2 million more.

They definitely would, but ALL of them would have to go at the same time. Even 2 years break (two completely skipped years, so almost three years between shows) would give people an appetite for it again. And give the country a chance to stockpile some decent new potential instead of recycling old contestants...

Maybe these shows should be like the World Cup or the Olympics? A real event every 4 years. It would seriously increase interest, I think.

You talking to me?

You really need to quote a post by an actual forum member if you are.

Then quote me.

Salman its better than not contributing anything and constantly posting a simple 1 sentence about another member.

daniel-lewis-1985 31-12-2013 09:02 PM

Why is Amy Childs on this?

Hardly a massive collection of celebs for a New Years special is it?

Samm 31-12-2013 09:08 PM

C4 probably does not want any promo, C4 are just jealous that it is doing better then there channels, and she was trying to speak about Big brother but they cut her off

Raph 31-12-2013 09:35 PM

Big Brother > The Voice all day, every day.

It gets over 7 million viewers on average that sounds successful to me compared to Eastenders which gets around the same and that is always at the top of BBC1s ratings.

Its a shame channel 4 killed it off and want it dead and buried. I still dont understand what their real motive was for killing it off it was getting 3 million solid viewers as of bb11 which is brilliant ratings for even channel 4.

Alan: You don't do Big Brother anymore?
Emma: Yeah i do

smeagol 02-01-2014 04:32 PM

alan carr is a irritation to human kind .used to like him but he is fake and not very funny
they need to axe chatty man its a really bad show

Cherie 02-01-2014 04:46 PM

I watched Graham Norton instead so I have not been concerned by Alan's non interest in BB.

daniel-lewis-1985 02-01-2014 06:21 PM

Alan Carr is hilarious imo.

T* 02-01-2014 09:17 PM

I was watching the big fat quiz of the year yesterday, and they had a tv segment. There was a clip montage of as Jimmy said "the most popular tv 2013 had to offer" and BB wasn't mentioned in it once, even though it was the most googled tv show. Also, have you noticed that BB has never been featured on goggle box? :suspect:
