..for me tea as a meal would be something like sandwiches/cakes etc and if it's a hot meal it would be dinner...I think also it's a bit of a regional thing and some people call their evening meal tea and some call it dinner....

..mine would be...

breakfast
lunch
dinner

thesheriff443 13-01-2014 12:42 PM

its both for me,

Josy 13-01-2014 12:53 PM

Just a drink to me, I don't call any meals Tea and never have.

Supper is what you have to eat about 8/9pm like a bit of toast and tea or roasted cheese or something light like that :ninja2:

To me it would be the following;
Breakfast
Brunch
Lunch
Dinner (main evening meal)
Supper (a sandwich, noodles or something else light at night)

No roasted cheese, but that's a whole other thread. :fist:

In fact we had one before.

Jesus. 13-01-2014 01:17 PM

I think I started it! Or I definitely did a cheese on toast one before.

Cheese and Lea & Perrins on bread under the grill, perfection

Cheese on toast or 'roasted cheese' (lmao) is overrated anyway, grilled cheeses too
tuna melts >>>>

I'm not usually one to approve of humanity's brutal acts of destruction but jesus christ fish the **** out of tuna I could eat it until they're all gone off the face of the planet, amazing

I have breakfast at 12-1pm (wake up at 10amish) lunch at 4pm and dinner at 8pm, that's how people in my culture do it and it keeps you full throughout the day and helps stop you from snacking. No need for 'brunch' or 'supper'. I honestly couldn't imagine having my last meal at 4/5ish... that's like 6 hours of not eating anything substantial for the rest of the night :umm2:

but on school days I eat breakfast at 7am/lunch at midday/snack or something small when I come home/dinner at eight

MTVN 13-01-2014 01:30 PM

Have always called the main evening meal tea, normally with things like this theres some kind of geographical trend but with this it just seems random whether people do or dont

Also :joker: at roasted cheese

Jordan. 13-01-2014 01:36 PM

Breakfast, dinner then tea. I don't have time for 'lunch'

Yeah I thought tea was a northern Britain thing but it doesn't look that way at all... hmm

Z 13-01-2014 01:39 PM

I say lunch but at school if I was having hot food from the canteen then that was a school dinner but if I was bringing my own lunch then that was a packed lunch... neither of which mattered when we were 14 (third year) because then we were allowed out into town for lunch :amazed:

BigSister 13-01-2014 02:07 PM

I say tea for dinner too and call lunch dinner

Me too we call what some call lunch dinner, and what some call dinner tea.
I thought this thread meant do you substitute a cup of tea for a meal?

Jords 13-01-2014 02:54 PM

Have had this discussion so many times at uni :joker:

I say:

Breakfast
Lunch/Dinner
Tea

Whereas most people say:

Breakfast
Lunch
Dinner

LOL

smudgie 13-01-2014 03:04 PM

Of course, even more confusing is that we still say "Sunday dinner" for a roast dinner.
So we can have a Sunday dinner on a Monday...as we are this evening.:joker:

Benjamin 13-01-2014 03:06 PM

Tea is a drink for me. I never call my dinner tea.

Lee. 13-01-2014 03:08 PM

To me it's just a drink.. Main meal if the day is called dinner..

... Although if I went for afternoon tea I'd expect tea with sandwiches, scones and treats.
