I thought it was the Dog that attacked the baby
and sadly killed the baby.

Am I the only one that's thinking....

I'm not going to be offensive, but they probably abused this dog and made it angry.
Alaskan Malamuts are supposed to be caring and protective dogs, not baby eaters.

It's a weird case and now they're wondering if it was even the dog that did it...

I think the point that is lost on most people who are animal lovers is that irrespective of how nice the dog is or how loving or docile or protective.......at the end of the day it is still an animal that is unpredictable and subject to unexpected behaviour.

As other posters have said no one knows what "mood" the animal could be in or if another person or animal has wound it up. Or the child who gets attacked may have spent days,weeks possibly months winding the animal up by shouting or squeezing it too hard or a hundred other things.

Fact is no one knows and as a result the animal in question could react unpredictably and sadly this sometimes results in violence against young children/babies.

It's not really the dogs fault it's an animal ............

So NEVER EVER leave animals unattended with small children/babies ever not even for a minute as you have no control over the animals actions...

I would go even as far as saying the Govt should advise ALL parents with small children/babies to seriously consider NOT having pets until they are at least big enough to fend off/withstand any animal attack.....!!!!

That's what I've been reading Arista,it probably was the dog,but they still have it and are waiting on a post mortem,that just seems strange.

There are millions of families in the UK with dogs and babies and nothing happens. This story just illustrates how little grasp of numbers people have.

Stupid parents leaving a days old baby alone. Dogs can be quite protective of babies and children but you have to be a moron to leave both alone right at the very beginning.

No it doesn't, and this is completely irrelevant. Dogs are unpredictable, and the fact that it doesn't usually end in any sort of problem simply does not justify the RISK - no matter how small that risk is. It happens. No one "needs" a dog, and the enjoyment of a family pet is not worth it by any stretch.

I fear that people are simply too attached to these animals, to be honest. Like I said - we humanize them, fool ourselves into thinking that they "love" us, and so we can't bear to say "its just a dog. If you're having a baby, don't have a dog for a few years."
