..I agree with everything Liv has said and I think that most of his charity work is unknown because he doesn't publicise it, he has his own charity trust which gives grants to various charity organisations...

Ammi 20-04-2014 11:01 AM

..also, Summer Holiday.....King Cliff..

A very good point, and just further shows their characters, IMO their motivations were/are poles apart. Jimmy was all for show, and I'd even say he used it to facilitate access to vulnerable people - vile man. Cliff has never sought publicity for his own endeavours, the more I now think about him the more and more I admire the man.

It's a Christian thing. "Be not like the Hypocrites for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men". I always get the impression that Cliff Richard's a Christian first and a celebrity second. I doubt he'd ever use charity work for publicity purposes except to draw attention to the charity itself.

I think it was his faith that kept him in the closet so long, hopefully now the Christian faith is more accepting of homosexuality more Christian homosexuals will feel they can express themselves freely.

"Opinions are like arse holes, I wanna stick my tongue way up your opinion"

Anyway, he grew up in a very different time to now and even if the UK's generally a more accepting place than it was back then; his fanbase are also from that era he grew up in - why would you want to alienate them now (or risk alienating them now) when you've already lived a lie your entire life (if he is indeed gay) - and as he says, would it matter? It wouldn't change all the records he sold or people he entertained and their memories of that, it's his personal life, and it's not like he played on the whole sexuality thing for a publicity stunt... he just decided to omit his love life from his public persona, unlike say Jessie J who played the "I'm a bisexual! Now I'm not!" card purely for her career, which is the exact opposite from what Cliff has done.

Ive met him a few times. its obvious he is gay. but with his religious beliefs i doubt you will hear about it until he is gone.
it wont matter to the world if he is or isnt

If he is gay, he's denied it for years and it's probably become hard to admit. Of course, he might not be. What business is it of anyone? This one comment he made was probably taken out of context and sensationalised. Leave the man alone. What he does in the privacy of his own bedroom is his own business.

First class post, perfectly stated and totally right too, I agree with every word.

made a lot of money out of music, don't think he has given a lot back in the way of charity work, or anything else for that matter.

:suspect: Are you joking?
What business is it of anyone whether he donates to charity or not? Do you?
It's his money to do with as he pleases.

Not a fan personally tbh, but as you say, his careers has been amazing...he seems a sound bloke and I don't really see the need for people to take the piss

As for the question..no it wouldn't matter one bit. Good on him for not giving into the pressure of revealing details of his private life... and if he is gay and just hasnt blabbed it all over the papers for a bit of publicity like it seems the in thing to do at the moment, then even better on him.
