How awful! I don't even know what to say, it's scary to think that working in a school could prove fatal...

Interesting to read about this lad and his background. Addicted to violent video games yet a good student in all subjects except Spanish (why was he taking spanish at that age ??).

Parents separated and in process of divorcing and this lad on anti depressants.

Also he had a long running hatred for this teacher...why ??

Perhaps this very popular teacher disliked this lad also, perhaps she bullied and/or humiliated him in her class you know the sort of bullying where you turn the whole class against this pupil because he is the worst in the class at that subject.

Perhaps she got the class to laugh at her jibes at him. On the day of the attack she had him doing the photo copying, perhaps this is what finally sent him over the edge. It may turn out he had the knife in his locker and retreived it on his way back to the classroom.

It may he only wanted to threaten her or humiliate her in front of the class to get his own back, but due to how long he had taken to do the photo copying maybe she berated him over that also and well as they say the rest is history.

So very sad that a teachers life is lost under such circumstances. I don't know how we can avoid such situations.

Apparently she had worked there for 40 years and was due to retire in 10 weeks.

I studied spanish in my school from age 11 through to age 16? :suspect:

Spanish and German were the only 2 languages we could choose then at our School..

I would have thought from the age of 14 to 16 he would have had some choice in the subjects he studied as these subjects would be the ones he would be taking GCSE O-Grades in (In theory)

And if we are being informed correctly he hated Spanish (was no good at it) so why was he still taking spanish at that age unless it was compulsory in that particular school.

because taking a modern foreign language at GCSE is now compulsory
and he wasn't exactly going to go for French when the school has made him do Spanish for the first three years

Just trying to get inside the head of this lad, figure out under what sort of circumstances he would be pushed to commit an act of this nature.

No.......not at all

..he wasn't necessarily 'pushed' though and if something did trigger the attack then it could have been the slightest thing that no one would be aware of...I think with the things that the other student shave said, it would be more consistent that it was nothing at all to anything she did or said because to me it wouldn't make sense that she would have the character that was so likeble with the students and the just target one child to be mean in some way to...that is much less 'logical'....

..I don't think I've ever raised my voice to a child at school but I've had things thrown at me, been kicked, punched and on occasions been sent home myself with injuries and it's because a child has been so frustrated either with themselves or with something else and I'm 'just there' and it's not unusual for a child to 'hit out' at the person that's there and also maybe represents what they are frustrated wit as in the school itself maybe..?..something else to do with it...and we all know that children can be violent toward their parents as well because of their own frustrations and not necessarily something the parent has done that they haven't liked....

..when you can 'see' frustrated aggressive reactions in a child, you can do something and help them/get outside help for them if needed but if he was a 'quiet, depressed' child and then no one would have any idea this sort of extreme could happen..
