Are you sure you didn't dream it? I did a few days ago, I dreamed that I was getting up as normal... and then woke up in bed.

That's a bold statement.

Do you know why Katherine is on meds? Do you know what her situation is?

I don't know the answer to either of these questions, which is why I wouldn't suggest she 'wean herself off' anything. Some people require meds to function on a day to day basis. Some people only require them short-term. Everyone's situation is different. But one thing is common.. people who do require meds often wish they didn't.

I find your post ignorant, and insulting.

no need for the last part!

Got to agree with L - as usual. The vast majority of people don't mindlessly pop meds. They take them for a reason.

Exactly. I'd rather not be taking propranolol and SSRIs but it's obviously a must given the nature of my condition. Being told to wean yourself off them like a diabetic can stop taking insulin is an absurd notion.

no one has told you to wean yourself off of your medication

Marsh. 11-05-2014 07:11 PM

Cherie never said anyone is mindlessly popping pills.

Just saying, we don't know Kate's circumstances so no one here is in any position to give medical advice to her. I was giving an example of how I couldn't wean myself off so it's wrong to assume Kate should do likewise.

Cherie said, and I quote: "Meds are not the answer to everything, wean yourself off them". If someone's been prescribed them, then I don't see how an unqualified amateur telling them to wean themselves off them is anything but unhelpful.

I think there was every need. I was stating my opinion, which is that I found the post ignorant and insulting.

If someone found me ignorant, insulting or anything else, I wouldn't object to them saying so.

Fair enough, but the post didn't insinuate that Kate was being careless.

you have a way with words, Cherie never said she was a doctor, if you can do without medication, then you are better off in the long run,
anxiety medication comes with their own problems.

lily. 11-05-2014 07:19 PM

Every medication comes with its own problems. I think it will be up to Katherine and her doctor to decide which ones she needs to take and which she doesn't.

I find the need for you to include the last part, ignorant and insulting.

And I do not object to you saying so as you are simply stating your opinion. Your opinion is wrong, however, that is irrelevant.

your comment to Cherie was a needless one!, after a period of time the doctor will want to wean kate off of her medication.

the longer you stay on those meds the greater your dependency will be.

Obviously if you can do without medication then that's best all round. But if a doctor's prescribed them and the person taking them is not a fool, a virtual stranger on the web telling them to wean themselves off just sounds foolish to me.

Cherie's comment to Katherine was twice as needless.

Explain to me how it was helpful or contributed anything positive to Katherine's thread.

Just as the dependency to insulin and asthma inhalers increases? Or are these somehow different?

Cherie and kate are not virtual strangers, they know each other far better than you think.

Cherie had kates best interests at heart, she said wean not stop.

You know, I'm sure if Cherie has something to say about this, she'll say it. Unless you'd like to crack on for another seven or eight pointless posts, there's nothing on telly till 9pm.

these meds mask the true you, they make you feel numb to the world.

with long term use your body will need to keep getting its daily dose,
