I know the name but I'm not familiar with him. RIP.

DrunkerThanMoses 09-06-2014 05:16 PM

I am actually shocked by this, I adore the show Bottom. Such a great loss. RIP

Changed my avi to one of the funniest things from DDF. Always made me used to laugh as a kid :)

cant believe that. he was awesome. and still young. such a funny and cool guy.
life is so short you just never know when your day will be your last.
big big shame he was still great

Livia 09-06-2014 06:31 PM

Tragic news... he'll be missed by a lot of people, and 56 is no age for someone to die. RIP Rik.

Yes but he was
in coma back in '98
after that accident.

So he was not the same after that tragic accident

Some reports do not even say about his coma

Marsh. 09-06-2014 06:36 PM

That was 16 years ago. There's no indication his death is related.

Yes but he was lucky to be Alive
all I am saying is that injury
made his life short.

No, I realise that. I suppose one way to look at it is that his family had him for sixteen extra years after the accident. 56 is still very young though.

How do you work that out? Again, we don't know that accident had anything to do with his death. Do we?

Livia 09-06-2014 06:48 PM

If it was serious enough to put him in a coma for any length of time people will naturally assume it is connected. We'll have to wait and see... Whatever the cause, it's really sad.

I met Shaun on a Big Brother forum and I'm reading about Rik Mayall's death on a Big Brother forum so there we go, the circle of life

Of course, I'm just a little tired of Arista posting every minor thought as though it is fact.

No but at the time of his accident
Doctors said he may not come out of it.

All reports so far is he Died in his sleep.

What you must understand is he was not a Fit 56 year old
that accident was a major effect in his future years

cheeky_monkey 09-06-2014 06:59 PM

Awww that is sad news. RIP :(

He was 40 when it happened and it left him with epilepsy which he controlled with medication. I guess it could have been a seizure in his sleep but it could have been completely unrelated....until they release a cause of death, there isn't much point speculating.

AnnieK 09-06-2014 07:07 PM

The comedian’s cause of death is yet to be confirmed but sources said it is not linked to his life-threatening quad bike accident at their farm in Devon 16 years ago.
