Terrible idea and I don't accept the thought that this is for our protection, infringing on our rights for our 'protection' is completely idiotic.

I think people are viewing this incorrectly like I did.

It just means that if MI5 and the police etc think that someone is a terrorist then they are now allowed to look through their emails and phones as they have done in previous occasions in the past
