Yes why did they fly into a war zone?

arista 17-07-2014 05:24 PM

This is terrible :(
Is there any chance anyone could have survived, like Vesna vulovic? :(

Josy 17-07-2014 05:50 PM

Shocking, all those people

arista 17-07-2014 05:51 PM

Fools to fly into a War Zone

arista 17-07-2014 06:01 PM

It gets worse.

23 Americans were on that plane.

USA TV News reporting (a group) they tweeted shot down a Russian
Cargo Plan - but it was this plane

It was 33,000 feet up
but a surface-to-air missile (SAM) can reach that

Was MH17 flying through warzone to save fuel? Planes in area of crash site pictured flying away from Ukraine as questions are raised as to why they were travelling over country

I hope this was not just save money on fuel

Sticks 17-07-2014 06:52 PM

I am wondering when the conspiracy theorists will come out and blame the American CIA, because Putin is such a nice guy, and so are the rebels.

Maybe they can get the guy behind Loose Change to do a video...

What has been said on the BBC it could have been rebels capturing abandoned equipment left behind when the Ukrainian army retreated.

Redway 17-07-2014 06:54 PM

Horrible news. Those poor people. :(

Most airlines fly on a Great Circle route which probably took it over the Ukraine. The BBC say they do this sometime without giving it a moment's thought.

Pete. 17-07-2014 06:58 PM

So it was the plane was not meant to fly over Ukraine.

Still awful for those people

The plane was not flying in restricted airspace. Many airlines still flew that part and have just rerouted.

arista 17-07-2014 08:57 PM

sadly 6 British confirmed dead

Northern Monkey 17-07-2014 09:27 PM

Yeah,Apparently it keeps costs down for passengers,It's "like a big motorway between Europe and Asia" a more direct route which saves cost on fuel.It could've happened to any plane,That one was just unlucky.

andybigbro 17-07-2014 09:28 PM

Omg that's terrifying.

Northern Monkey 17-07-2014 09:30 PM

This https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NPtDy18Nk5I is a likely candidate for the weapon used

Benjamin 17-07-2014 09:43 PM

Was slim chance of there being any, but no survivors and the footage showed some of the dead including the children. :(
